Kate Hudson Posts Greek Vacation Photos at 47 and the Two Words She Used to Caption Them Say Everything

Kate Hudson has described Greece as her favorite place on earth. "My perfect day is a vacation day, so I wake up on an island in Greece to the sound of my kids running around," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I get a double espresso and walk down to the sea for a swim." For lunch, she reaches for "fried zucchini and moussaka at a seaside tavern." She adds: "Greece is my favourite vacation spot; I feel really at home there."

On July 6, 2026, she made that very clear. Hudson, born April 19, 1979, posted a carousel of photographs on Instagram from a family vacation in Greece — specifically, the island of Skiathos — captioning the post with two words: "My happy place." The photographs showed her standing at the edge of a boat in a black string bikini, the crystal-clear turquoise water behind her, preparing to jump. Other images showed her with her children at a beachside restaurant, on a speed boat, and in the sea. She also shared a tender group hug with her two boys on a sandy beach — a moment that circulated widely.

Hudson shares three children from three relationships. Ryder Robinson, 22, is her son with ex-husband Chris Robinson, to whom she was married from 2000 to 2007. Bingham Hawn Bellamy, 14, is her son with her former fiancé, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. And Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, 7, is her daughter with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa. All three were photographed during the vacation.

And then, briefly, so was Goldie Hawn.

Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn, born Nov. 21, 1945, is also vacationing in Greece with her partner Kurt Russell — a detail that transformed the family trip into a three-generation Hudson-Russell holiday on the Mediterranean. Hawn shared her own photographs from the trip, which included Hudson's son Bingham, Oliver Hudson's sons Bhodi and Wilder, and Russell's son Boston — a gathering of grandchildren that Hawn described with characteristic warmth.

Hudson, who spent the past months filming the second season of her Netflix basketball comedy "Running Point," told E! News in April that family comes first no matter the schedule. "Family always comes first, no matter what," she said. "Nothing matters as much as your children and your family." She also described her approach to setting an example for her children: "My hope is that they see how hard I work. And that they understand. I know that's how I feel about my parents. It's just work ethic. Discipline, work ethic."

The photographs of her children jumping off the boat, running into the sea, and piling into restaurant booths against a backdrop of whitewashed walls and Greek blue painted the picture of the life she has chosen — and chosen loudly.

At 47, in a black bikini, on a boat off Skiathos, captioning it "My happy place" — Hudson appeared to be doing exactly what she said she always wanted to do when the cameras stopped: waking up on an island in Greece to the sound of her kids running around, and heading down to the sea for a swim.
