Kate Hudson Looks Unidentifiable After Showing Off Black Hair Transformation

Kate Hudson belongs to one of Hollywood's favorite families — her mom is actress Goldie Hawn while her stepdad is Kurt Russell. And just like her mom, Hudson is famous for being a blond bombshell. Whether she's acting in romantic comedies or thrillers, Hudson is always sporting her famous flaxen hair.

But recently the gorgeous 42-year-old gave her fans a look at a different side of her, specifically one in which she has black hair. And while the results are vastly different from how she normally looks, it's no surprise that Hudson pulled off the look. 

Posting to her Instagram at the end of July, Hudson shared a short video in which she has pitch-black hair, bright purple glitter eyeshadow and false lashes, and bright yellow acrylic nails. In the short clip — which has a filter that gives it an ethereal atmosphere — Hudson is getting her makeup done while she's posing for the camera. It's a vast departure from her usual California beachy vibe, but there's no denying that Hudson is so gorgeous she's able to pull it off.

However, her caption gives a clue that perhaps the change isn't permanent, but instead for an upcoming role of hers. She captioned the post: "Looks like Bonnie’s going to @labiennale 💃💅💜🌕 Mona Lisa and The Blood Moon at the Venice Film Festival will be such a ride."

While it's not clear who Bonnie is, it could be the character she plays in the movie "Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon," which is expected to be released later this year. 

Hudson also thanked the director of the film, Ana Lily Amanpour, in her caption, writing:

"Our bad ass director @lilyinapad is a dream to make art with! And playing this character was a ride. She doesn’t mess around. Looking forward to everyone being able to see it 🎥✨"

Considering how good she looks, it's no surprise that fans were quick to comment on how beautiful Hudson looks with dark hair. One person wrote:

"Wow your eyes really pop with dark hair! So pretty love 😍"

Others agreed while another thought the actress resembled her gorgeous mother in the clip. They wrote:

"You look EXACTLY like your beautiful Mother Goldie. (minus the black hair)👍💯😍🥰❤️"

The upcoming movie is a fantasy film in which Hudson will co-star with Jeon Jong-seo, Craig Robinson, and Ed Skrein, among others. It's set in New Orleans and will revolve around a girl with unusual powers as she escapes from a mental asylum. IMDb states that the movie is expected to be released in Sep. 2021.

And while Hudson switching out her signature blond tresses for black might seem like a big change, the actress has actually done even bigger things for film roles of hers. In musician Sia's directorial debut, "Music," which was released last year, Hudson shaved all of her hair off! According to Hello!, the actress said on the show "Lorraine" that she "really loved it" and even missed it once it grew out. She also added:

"I honestly think that a woman in her life at one point needs to just chop it all off."
