Kate Hudson Jokes She's 'Pre-Planning The Planning' Of Her Wedding To Danny Fujikawa

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Keith Frazier on Nov. 8, 42-year-old actress Kate Hudson opened up about her and Danny Fujikawa’s upcoming wedding. Hudson revealed that although no official planning has taken place, the actress is “pre-planning the planning.”
Since her acting debut in the late ‘90s, Hudson has had a variety of high-profile relationships with actors, musicians and athletes. One of her most prominent relationships was with Chris Robinson, the frontman for the band The Black Crowes. Hudson, in her 20s at the time, moved in with the rocker after knowing him for just a few days, according to the Chicago Tribune. It didn’t take long for the couple to get married in Aspen, Colorado, on New Year’s Eve in 2000. Their marriage — which produced Hudson’s first child, Ryder Russell Robinson — lasted until August 2006, when the couple announced that they had separated.
After briefly dating Owen Wilson and Dax Shepard, Hudson eventually found love again with Matt Bellamy, another rock star. The Muse frontman proposed to Hudson in 2011, a year after they began dating and months before their son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, was born. Again, however, the couple separated, breaking off their engagement in 2014.
Fujikawa, another musician, entered the picture in 2016 when the two went on their first date together. And today, five years later, it seems the couple is still going strong as they raise their daughter Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa together in Los Angeles and prepare for their upcoming wedding. Although they announced their engagement in September 2021, there’s still no official date, and the couple is in the preliminary stages of planning.

"You know what I’m doing? I’m pre-planning the planning. Just kind of thinking of what we want to do and then I'm going back and forth between like, what is this really going to look like?" Hudson told ET.
"Obviously, we’re so excited. But the idea of planning a wedding is like, a lot, it's a lot," she continued. "I made a whole movie about it.
Hudson also said that her kids are looking forward to the big day, too.
"I think they're really excited," she said. "It was something they were really excited for, all of us, and I'm just really happy."
On Sept. 13, Hudson also took to Instagram to share her engagement with Fujikawa, whom she’s known for more than 15 years.
“We’ve known each other for 15 years; he’s my best friend’s stepbrother,” Hudson said on “The Talk,” according to Yahoo News. “We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, ‘Oh, you’re like that?'”
The engagement announcement showed Fujikawa kissing Hudson in front of an ocean backdrop while Hudson’s left hand displayed the engagement ring.
Hudson is good friends with Fujikawa’s stepsisters, Sara and Erin Foster. In fact, that’s how the two first met.
“Whoa. It’s official 😱. Not gonna lie, been a hard secret to keep. I may have slipped and told a few people. ❤️” Sara commented on Hudson’s engagement announcement.
“Finally we are officially sisters!!” Erin added.
On their first anniversary, Hudson offered some insight on her relationship with Fujikawa in a December 2017 post to Instagram.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His step sisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade!” Hudson wrote.
“A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date. No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter. So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible!” Hudson added.
Around a year later, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa was born. Hudson announced Rani’s birth on Instagram, writing that she and Fujikawa named their daughter after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa.
“Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back," she wrote.
“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her (paternal) grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor,” Hudson added.
Today, more than years since Rani was born, Hudson and Fujikawa seem to be going steady, and with the wedding on the horizon, we can’t wait to see their love blossom.
