Kate Hudson And Daughter Rani Perform 'Girl On Fire' In Adorable Video — 'We Love Putting On A Show'

Oct 08, 2021 by apost team

Kate Hudson blessed our Instagram feeds this week with an adorable “interpretive dance” and singing duet with her 3-year-old daughter Rani. The mother-daughter duo took on Alicia Keys’ hit single “Girl on Fire,” though Hudson, 42, took the lead during their 7:30 a.m. impromptu performance.

Rani and Hudson, who is makeup-free and has likely just woken up, begin their performance with a dramatic opening, positioning themselves behind a baby safety gate, only to burst through during the song’s chorus.

Hudson embellishes some of Keys’ lyrics, jokingly singing, “Mama doesn’t know the words” at one point. But even though the pair is hardly polished, Hudson’s early-morning enthusiasm and Rani’s beaming smile make this one of the most heartwarming celebrity videos in recent memory.

Perhaps the cutest moment is when Rani belts out: "This girl is on fire / This girl is on fire. / She's walking on fire / This girl is on fire.” Meanwhile, Hudson acts as the performance’s backup dancer, putting on a show worthy of Rani’s powerful voice.

The duet ends with sweet Rani bowing to her father, 35-year-old Rani Fujikawa, as he films the singing and dance act.

The cute video comes just days after Hudson and Fujikawa celebrated Rani’s 3rd birthday in an Instagram post. In the touching video, Hudson and Fujikawa sing happy birthday while in bed with their daughter. Rani, who looks directly into the camera, can’t keep a smile off her face in the video.

Rani, who was born in October 2018, is Hudson and Fujikawa’s first child. After five years together, the couple only recently announced their engagement in September 2021.

Hudson regularly updates her fans on her personal life via Instagram, where she has over 14 million followers. In her most recent post, the video of herself and Rani singing Keys’ hit single, Hudson wrote: “Thought I’d share the full experience! 7:30 am showing! Rani’s favorite song This Girl is On Fire 🔥 This is how we do it over here….we love putting on a show LETS GO!”

On Sept. 13, Hudson also took to Instagram to share her engagement with Fujikawa, whom she’s known for more than 15 years.

“We’ve known each other for 15 years; he’s my best friend’s stepbrother,” Hudson said on “The Talk,” according to Yahoo News. “We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, ‘Oh, you’re like that?'”

The engagement announcement showed Fujikawa kissing Hudson in front of an ocean backdrop while Hudson’s left hand displayed the engagement ring.

Hudson is good friends with Fujikawa’s stepsisters, Sara and Erin Foster. In fact, that’s how the two first met.

“Whoa. It’s official 😱. Not gonna lie, been a hard secret to keep. I may have slipped and told a few people. ❤️” Sara commented on Hudson’s engagement announcement.

“Finally we are officially sisters!!” Erin added.

On their first anniversary, Hudson offered some insight on her relationship with Fujikawa in a December 2017 post to Instagram.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His step sisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade!” Hudson wrote.

“A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date. No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter. So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible!” Hudson added.

Around a year later, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa was born. Hudson announced Rani’s birth on Instagram, writing that she and Fujikawa named their daughter after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa.

“Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back," she wrote.

“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her (paternal) grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor,” Hudson added.

Rani is Hudson’s third child. In 2004, the “Almost Famous” actress had her first child, Ryder Russel Robinson, with Chris Robinson, the frontman of the band the Black Crowes. After their divorce in 2006, Hudson dated Muse’s frontman, Matt Bellamy, with whom she had Bingham Hawn Bellamy in 2011,  the year the couple got engaged. But around three years later, the couple separated.

Today, nearly five years since she first started dating Fujikawa, she seems to have found the perfect partner.
