Kaia Gerber may be forging her own path as an actress, but her latest fashion choices have made one thing abundantly clear: the supermodel genes she inherited from her mother, Cindy Crawford, are impossible to ignore.

As Gerber promotes her new FX series, “The Shards,” she has stepped out in a string of glamorous looks that feel like a stylish tribute to Crawford’s iconic ’90s era. From fiery red to minimalist black and a dazzling sheer gown, the 24-year-old has been serving up one throwback moment after another — and fans have been quick to point out just how much she resembles her famous mother.

One of the most striking examples came at the New York premiere of “The Shards,” where Gerber arrived in a glittering Valentino gown covered in intricate beading. The floor-length creation featured a sheer, diamond-patterned design and delicate spaghetti straps, while Gerber completed the look with diamond earrings, a statement ring and a voluminous blow-dry that could have come straight from Crawford’s supermodel heyday.

The resemblance was particularly striking because Crawford herself was a defining face of ’90s glamour. Gerber appeared to be channeling not only her mother’s beauty but also her approach to fashion: polished, sexy and effortlessly sophisticated.

Her other promotional appearances have continued the nostalgic theme. Gerber recently stepped out in a scarlet Alaïa ensemble, a color strongly associated with Crawford’s own wardrobe. The supermodel famously wore a memorable red Versace gown to the 1993 Academy Awards alongside her then-husband, Richard Gere. Gerber’s modern take was more understated, pairing a red Alaïa two-piece with heeled flip-flops, but the connection was hard to miss.

Gerber has also embraced sleek minimalism, wearing a black boat-neck midi dress that evoked the refined glamour of another era. Even her wardrobe in “The Shards” echoes her mother’s fashion legacy, with Gerber’s character, Susan Reynolds, dressed in high-waisted silhouettes, preppy pieces and big, bouncy hair reminiscent of Crawford’s famous modeling years.

The comparisons are especially amusing given that Gerber did not always fully understand just how famous her mother was. She previously recalled that it was not until her eighth birthday at Disneyland that she began to grasp Crawford’s celebrity status.

“I think it was only on my eighth birthday, at Disneyland, that I started to understand what was going on. I wanted to take pictures with the princesses, and everyone wanted to take pictures with her!” Gerber recalled of the attention her mother attracted.

Now, Gerber is very much a star in her own right. In “The Shards,” she plays Susan in Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, which is set in 1981 Los Angeles. The series also stars Homer Gere, son of Richard Gere and Carey Lowell.

That casting creates an irresistible Hollywood connection: Homer’s father was once married to Gerber’s mother. Crawford and Richard tied the knot in 1991 and divorced in 1995, years before their children would eventually find themselves working together.

Yet the younger generation appears to have made the connection their own. Gerber and Homer reportedly became friends while filming, turning a curious piece of celebrity history into another reason “The Shards” has captured attention.

And as Gerber continues promoting the show, her fashion choices suggest she may be stepping into more than just a new acting chapter. With every ’90s-inspired look, she is proving that some style legacies — especially one as iconic as Crawford’s — really do run in the family.
