When it comes to dating Hollywood, there's no guarantee that a couple will last. With so many temptations and constantly busy schedules, it's easy to see why some celebrity couples don't make it. However, there are a few who have shown that they can defy the odds and stand the test of time. One of these couples is Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich.
Moore is best known for being an actress, starring in a spread of independent films as well as several television shows and feature films. She studied theater at Boston University and went on to find work soon afterward, becoming a regular in the soap opera "As the World Turns." Soon enough, the actress found herself starring in blockbusters such as "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," and fully established herself as a leading lady in Hollywood. Some other films she's starred in include "The Big Lebowski," "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "Still Alice."
Regarding her personal life, Moore has been through some ups and downs. She first married actor, producer and stage director John Gould Rubin in 1986 after dating for two years. Moore was in her early 20s at the time and was just starting out as an actress. The couple separated in 1993 and divorced two years later.
Fortunately, a new love was right around the corner for Moore. She started to date Freundlich, the producer of "The Myth of Fingerprints," back in 1996. They have built a beautiful relationship together, welcoming their son Caleb in 1997 and their daughter Liv in 2002. On Aug. 23, 2003, Moore and Freundlich tied the knot.

Falling In Love
Moore and Freundlich have been married for almost 20 years. They first met on the set of "The Myth of Fingerprints" back in 1996, which was directed and written by Freundlich. According to The New Yorker, the couple got off to a bit of a rocky start, as Freundlich, who was 26 at the time, tried to over-direct a 35-year-old Moore.
However, the director admired Moore for her tenacity and it wasn't long before the pair coupled up. "She's one of those people for whom the portal to up there is open, so you guard it the same way you would guard your family, by being very careful with your boundaries," Freundlich said. "I pictured it like a pilot light – this little flame that's inside her. If she doesn't let it get blown out by all the talking and ideas that get expressed on a set, then she can ignite it at any time."
While Moore is known for being very honest and serious in her demeanor, she has let down some of her walls with Freundlich and has shared more of her humorous side, according to The New Yorker." "She had that in her," Freundlich explained. "I just brought it out."
The couple welcomed two children together before finally tying the knot on Aug. 23, 2003. Moore was 42 at the time, and Freundlich was 33. It's clear that both Moore and Freundlich are incredibly fond of one another and are great role models for what a long-lasting marriage should look like as they continue to share their love for each other with the world.

Maintaining Their Relationship
During an appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show" in 2020, Moore spoke with Drew Barrymore about how she has maintained her relationship with Freundlich. "The only thing that I can say is, I think that you both have to really want to be married," Moore said. "I do feel like I've seen situations where things aren't working out for people, one of the members of the couple doesn't want to be there."
She continued, "I think if you're both invested in it working out, and then you really have to have a good time. My God, I think they really have to make you laugh. If they don't make you laugh, it's just deadly."
The celebrity couple has been together for about 26 years now, but Moore said that it hasn't felt like it's been that long. She explained, "I mean , I think that's what's been nice about it. It doesn't feel like a long time."
Every now and then, Moore will upload a photograph to her Instagram account showing off her beautiful relationship with her husband. On Jan. 17, 2022, she posted a photo of herself sitting alongside Freundlich in a car. The caption read:
"In our natural habitat – doing what we love – HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Bart. I love you so much and can't wait to celebrate the next year of your wonderful life with you. You mean so much to so many people, I am lucky that I am the one who gets to ride next to you."
With so many great years already behind them, Moore and Freundlich are sure to have many more in the future ahead.
