Julia Roberts Endorses Charity Organization By Sporting Cartoon Character Top

Julia Roberts has been one of the top leading ladies in Hollywood since she starred in the 1990 film “Pretty Woman,” which is still one of the roles she is most remembered for. The star has received numerous accolades for her acting, including an Academy Award and three Golden Globes. 

Born on Oct. 28, 1967, in Georgia, Roberts grew up wanting to become a veterinarian. However, her plans changed as she grew a bit older, and she decided to move to New York City to pursue acting. There, she signed up with a modeling agency and began taking acting classes. 

Roberts’ leap of faith worked out, and she has since become one of the most popular Hollywood actresses of all time. She won an Academy Award in 2000 for her role in “Erin Brockovich.” Some of her other popular films include “Notting Hill,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Ocean’s Eleven.” Roberts is also known for being extremely beautiful – having been voted the most beautiful woman in the world five times by People magazine – and kind-hearted, helping her earn even more adoration from fans and critics alike.

However, despite being one of the most famous people in the world, the actress does her best to keep herself and her family away from the public eye. In keeping with her private nature, Roberts didn’t marry another celebrity; instead, she married cinematographer Daniel Moder in 2002. They met on the set of the movie “The Mexican,” in which Moder worked as a cameraman. Together they have three children. 

Roberts’ star power is matched by her incredibly generous heart. Over the years, the star has donated to and supported various charities. In 2023, she backed the United Kingdom’s Comic Relief organization by sporting an adorable Mr. Men T-shirt.

Roberts is widely recognized for her philanthropy and activism, and has supported a variety of causes ranging from education and healthcare to poverty and social justice.

One of the causes that Roberts supports is education. She has been involved with Unicef’s “Back to School” campaign, which aims to provide access to education for children around the world. In addition, she has worked with the Heart of Los Angeles Youth organization, which provides free after-school programs to underserved youth in Los Angeles.

Roberts has also been an advocate for healthcare. She is a supporter of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, which aims to improve access to vaccines for children in developing countries. In 2020, she teamed up with other celebrities such as Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker, for the #passthemic campaign aimed at bolstering the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic. For the campaign, she spoke to Dr. Anthony Fauci about health disparities in the developing world. 

“If we don’t look at this as one world fighting this together, then we really won’t get a handle on it the way that we have to,” she said.

Additionally, she has been involved with the American Cancer Society and the Stand Up to Cancer organization, which focus on cancer research and prevention.

Another cause that Roberts is passionate about is poverty alleviation. She has been involved with the ONE Campaign, an organization that works to fight extreme poverty and preventable diseases in Africa. Roberts has also supported the Enough Project, which aims to end genocide and crimes against humanity in Africa.

In addition to her charitable activities, Roberts has used her platform to raise awareness about various issues. She has spoken out against human trafficking and has advocated for environmental sustainability.

Roberts’ philanthropic habits don’t appear to be waning anytime soon. In March 2023, she joined other famous faces to back the United Kingdom’s Comic Relief charity by donning a T-shirt being sold to raise money. In a photo shared by Comic Relief on its Instagram account, Roberts sported a striped black and white top adorned with a badge of a yellow Mr. Men character. “We are in love with the amazing @juliaroberts spreading joy in her Mr. Happy @tkmaxxuk chari-tee. 😍,” the caption read. The same photo was shared on the TK Maxx account, with the caption, “Julia Roberts looking FAB-U-LOUS in her #RedNoseDay T-shirt for @ComicRelief!”

The British charitable organization Comic Relief was founded in 1985 with the purpose of using humor to raise money for those in need in the UK and around the world. It is most well-known for its biennial telethon event, Red Nose Day, where a night of television programming is dedicated to raising money for various charities.

The charity has raised over £1 billion (about $1.19 billion) since its inception, and the money raised goes towards supporting a range of projects, from providing access to education, healthcare, and sanitation to vulnerable communities and addressing issues related to domestic violence and gender inequality.

The use of humor and comedy to raise money is a core part of Comic Relief’s ethos, and many comedians and celebrities have been involved with the charity over the years. The signature red noses sold by the charity are a well-known symbol of its work, and the event has become a cultural institution in the UK.

Red Nose Day falls on March 17 in 2023, and also sees the participation of celebrities such as “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Amanda Holden and David Tennant.
