Judges Rolled Their Eyes When Kids Stepped On Stage But Their Audition Wins Everybody Over

Collabro is now an established musical theater group from the UK, but once upon a time they were just five guys trying to make it big.

Here, in their first audition on Britain's Got Talent in 2014 they had only been together for a month. The judges had grave doubts, but the band blew them away with an unexpected number and went on to win the series.

The panel and what seemed like all of the audience members were visibly annoyed when five attractive young men took to the stage. As the five young lads made their way to center stage, celebrity judge Simon Cowell looked impatient.

Regardless, the judges began with the customary questions they always ask before any new act auditions. Everyone was cringing as the boys admitted that they'd only been performing together for one measly month. To make matters worse, none of them had any professional music experience. When they admitted that, judge Amanda Holden actually buried her face in her hands.

Finally, it was time for the boys to sing. Every single person in the audience appeared as if they just wanted to see the disaster so that it could be over and done with already. But what happened next shocked everyone to their core.

Everyone was expecting the boys to sing some cheesy pop song, likely from another boy band that had come before them. Instead, the boys chose the song Stars from Les Miserables. Stars is a notoriously difficult song to sing, in addition to the fact that it's a highly emotional piece depicting a man's last thoughts before suicide. It's hardly the sort of song we'd usually associate with a boy band!

The five young men absolutely nailed this tough track, giving the best performance of the evening. The audience was full of dropped jaws as the lads blew them all away, shattering all of their negative expectations.

"When the five of you came out," Simon Cowell said to them after their phenomenal audition was complete. "I thought, ‘here we go, another boy band!'"

The typically tough judge then showered the boys with praise, calling their performance "bloody brilliant."

The group recently performed on America's Got Talent: The Champions, as reported here at the News and Star
