Simon Cowell has become one of the most popular celebrities of the early 21st century. He started out as a judge on the iconic television show American Idol. After the show enjoyed many successful years in the United States, renditions were released in countries across the world. Cowell eventually became one of the major producers of the show. Throughout the entirety of the show's existence, he was one of the consistent judges. He left American Idol after spending over a decade growing the program into a major hit.

In this story, Simon proves that he does indeed have a softer side not often seen as he comes to the "rescue" of a young talent and her dog.

Although Simon Cowell was done with American Idol, he was not done being a judge. He helped to create America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent a few years later. He has worked as a judge on both versions of the show as per Biography.com. Simon Cowell has helped this show become just as popular as American Idol. One of the consistent themes throughout these shows is Simon Cowell's cruel honesty.

He is often seen as the tough judge who isn't afraid to speak his mind. While this was true throughout his career on American Idol, it seems as though Simon has become softer and more measured in his remarks.

This change of heart was put on display in an episode of America's Got Talent. When Sara Carson walked her adorable dog Hero onto the massive stage, she would've never guessed that Simon would be the one to single-handedly secure her future in the competition.

Along with her loyal dog Hero, Sara performed a pirate-themed routine. Everyone in the audience seemed to be captivated by this performance. Simon Cowell was even impressed with the act. Fellow judges Howie Mandel and Mel B. weren't so convinced as the rest of the audience. Simon was shocked when the two judges voted 'no' on the decision to send Sara and Hero further along in the competition. In a strange sequence of events, Simon decided to take the future of the show into his own hands.

Simon approached the stage while Sara was crying from the sad news. Two negative votes meant that she wouldn't be able to continue in the competition. While Simon was on stage, he pleaded with Howie and Mel B. to change their votes. Simon explained that he saw something which eluded the other judges. He asked Mel B. directly to change her mind. In the end, Sara and her Collie were voted through to the next stage in the competition.
