That moment when nine-year-old Amira Willighagen of Nijmegen went on stage for the first time to perform for the judges on Holland's Got Talent. As soon as she walked on to the stage, everyone thought that we were going to hear another kid singing an overdone pop song. But her voice surprised much of the audience, including the judges.

The choice of song was a shock to the audience, so much so that the judges thought it was a joke and began to snigger in their seats. They didn't think it would be possible that such a tiny girl could dream of pulling off this great opera song.

One of the judges even boldly asked her if he needed earplugs or would it be safe? You can already tell by the judge's reactions they were already preparing to let her down softly at the end of the performance.

As soon as she opened her mouth and the first note was belted out no one could believe how such a big voice could come from a young little girl. The story leading up to the performance had everyone super interested and left everyone curious about the rest of the performance.

Her voice was utterly incredible; something that artists double her age could only dream of possessing. One of the judges even said "It's not normal" towards the end of her performance, suggesting her voice is otherworldly.

When asked how she learned to sing, young Amira stated that she was completely self-taught. She had learned how to sing these songs by listening to and repeating them. This seemed almost unbelievable after her performance started and her voice could be heard! Amira would go on to win this season of Holland's Got Talent.

This all happened in 2013. Her win at the end of the show was not the end of her musical career. She recorded and released her first album in 2014, which reached gold status in the Netherlands. The video of her first performance on the show became an internet sensation, racking up millions of views.

One of these viewers was a member of André Rieu's Johann Strauss Orchestra, which led to Amira performing together with the famous conductor and violinist and his orchestra. The young singer then went on to perform in several European countries, the US, Hong Kong, and South Africa.

Nowadays, the 15-year old lives in South Africa with her family, while her musical career is still going strong. Her second and third album followed in 2015 and 2018, with parts of her earnings going toward her very own charity: Gelukskinders, which builds and maintains playgrounds for children in South Africa.

Be sure to take the time and listen to Amira's angelic voice. Did it move you just as much as us? Tell us your thoughts and send the video on to your friends and family to brighten their day!
