Girl Cries After Audition Before Simon Cowell Gets Onstage For Unprecedented Move

Simon Cowell is known for being one of the harshest and most critical judges on talent competition shows. He's a record executive, television personality and entrepreneur, and has also used his platform for the betterment of others, engaging in philanthropic activities over the years. "The X Factor," "Britain's Got Talent," "America's Got Talent," and "American Idol" are some of the most popular shows on Cowell's resume.

He first started as a judge on the British show "Pop Idol" and later, the US equivalent, "American Idol." After the show enjoyed many successful years, local versions were released in countries across the world. Meanwhile, Cowell eventually became one of the major producers of "American Idol." He was one of the constant judges but left the show after spending over a decade growing the program into a major hit. His time on the show helped him to become one of the most popular celebrities in the 21st century.

Although Cowell was done with "American Idol," he wasn't done being a judge. He helped to create "America's Got Talent" and "Britain's Got Talent" a few years later, and he's worked as a judge on both versions of the show. Cowell helped the show become just as popular as "American Idol."

One of the consistent themes throughout all of these shows is Cowell's cruel honesty. He's often seen as the tough judge who isn't afraid to speak his mind. While this was true throughout his career on "American Idol," it seems as though the judge has become softer and more measured in his remarks.

This change of heart was put on display in a 2017 episode of "America's Got Talent." When Sara Carson walked her adorable dog Hero onto the massive stage, she would've never guessed that Simon would be the one to single-handedly secure her future in the competition.

During her audition, Carson performed a pirate-themed routine with her loyal dog Hero. Dressed in a costume and brandishing a sword, Carson and Hero put on a thrilling show set to dramatic background music. Their routine included many dog tricks and even a fun storyline in which Hero proved to be the real hero of the day. The auditions on "America's Got Talent" are often varied, but it's safe to say that Carson and Hero's routine was truly one of a kind.

Everyone in the audience seemed to be captivated by their performance and Cowell was even impressed with the act. However, fellow judges Howie Mandel and Mel B weren't as convinced as the rest of the crowd. In fact, Cowell was shocked when the two judges voted "no" on the decision of whether to send Carson and Hero further along in the competition. Then, in a strange sequence of events, Cowell decided to take the future of the show into his own hands.

As he voiced his disapproval of the fact that Mandel and Mel B didn't want to send the pair to the next stage of the competition, Cowell approached the stage as Carson cried from the sad news. Two negative votes meant that she wouldn't be able to continue in the competition. Then something unprecedented happened — when Cowell got on stage, he pleaded with the judges to change their votes. He explained that he saw something which eluded the other judges. He asked Mel B directly to change her mind and then he switched his focus to Mandel.

It must have really meant something to witness Cowell making such a big plea to his fellow judges because Mandel decided to put his trust in his co-star and ended up switching his vote to "yes." Cowell then asked Heidi Klum, who also said "yes." With two yeses and one no from Mel B, Cowell then told Carson that it was a "yes" from him too. This meant that she and Hero made it through to the next round of the competition. It was clear that this meant the world to her, as she broke down in tears and gave Cowell a big hug as she said "thank you."

Carso and Hero went on to compete in the 12th season of "America's Got Talent," and ended up placing 5th overall. Considering how hard they had to fight to get through in the first place, that's a great achievement! We bet Cowell was proud of them.

Since then, Carson has continued her career as a dog trick trainer. She trains The Super Collies, which includes Hero and multiple other dogs, and has continued to perform with them. They performed at "Puppy Bowl Presents: The Summer Games" and Hero even had a leading role in the movie "A Genie's Tail." Carson also released a book in 2022 titled "Super Dog Tricks."

Carson and Hero's audition on "America's Got Talent" showed that people — and animals! — have talents of all kinds, and if we just take a chance on them, they can go on to do truly great things.
