Josh Hartnett may still be a Hollywood heartthrob, but these days, the actor’s most important role is being a husband and father — and he has made it clear that he could not do it without his wife, Tamsin Egerton.

In 2026, Hartnett, 48, offered a rare glimpse into his marriage to Egerton, 37, as he discussed the challenges of balancing his acting career with raising their four children.

The pair recently offered another glimpse of their affection when Egerton joined Hartnett on the red carpet for the United Kingdom premiere of “Verity” in London. During an appearance on the “Scene Stealers” podcast, Hartnett admitted that maintaining a career while trying to be a present parent can be difficult.

“When you have kids, you wanna be home with them all the time,” Hartnett said. He explained that when he is working, he has to devote himself completely to the project — meaning he cannot simultaneously be as present at home as he would like.

Fortunately, he has someone he trusts completely to keep things running while he is away.

“Luckily, I have an amazing wife who kind of picks up the slack when I go away,” Hartnett said.

That praise offers a sweet glimpse into the partnership that has lasted more than a decade.

For Hartnett, the secret to their lasting relationship is less about grand romantic gestures and more about consistently putting each other first. In 2024, he told PEOPLE that one of the most important parts of a successful marriage is giving more than you feel you are receiving.

“I think you have to give more than you feel you receive,” he said at the time.

That philosophy seems particularly meaningful now that the couple is raising four children while navigating Hartnett’s increasingly busy acting career.

Living in the English countryside with their children, Hartnett and Egerton have largely chosen a quieter family life over the Hollywood spotlight. But whenever Hartnett does open up about his wife, one thing is unmistakable: After more than a decade together, he still sounds incredibly grateful to have her by his side.
