Josh Groban, The Singer Who Once Moved His Audience To Tears With His First Note, Turns 42

Josh Groban is a talented musician who has been a notable star since the 2000s. He is best known for being a singer and songwriter, and the star has even shown off his acting chops from time to time. Many people are familiar with his song “You Raise Me Up,” but Groban’s discography has gone far beyond this. 

Groban’s career in the arts initially started with him studying acting, but he switched to singing once his voice began taking on the tone we all know and love. Still, Groban never forgot his roots. While many people were ecstatic over his short recurring appearances on “The Office,” Groban wowed audiences with his Broadway debut in “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812,” which also earned him a Tony Award nomination. Groban also appeared in the series “The Good Cop” and the film “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

He played the Beast in the “Beauty and the Beast” 30th-anniversary special in 2022 and also signed on to play Sweeney Todd in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” Groban has also done work as a producer during his career, according to Biography. Still, his work as a singer and performer is what made him the star he is today.

In the music industry, Groban has worked with some of the greatest artists. Some of the people he has sung with include Andrea Bocelli and Idina Menzel, and he has even performed with some of his very own fans.

Groban gave his fans the performance of a lifetime back in 2019 when he sang what’s considered one of the greatest songs of all time.

Groban lives a relatively private life, but he has spoken out about some of his relationships over the years. According to Distractify, the star isn’t married yet but has had a fruitful dating life. He dated actress January Jones from 2003 to 2006 and actress Kat Dennings from 2014 to 2016.

Groban opened up about his feelings for Jones in 2013 when he reflected on their relationship. He admitted that the two were “madly in love” during their almost 3-year relationship.

Groban was also linked to singer Katy Perry. The latter even suggested that her song “The One That Got Away” is about Groban. However, Groban didn’t see how this was possible, as the lyrics didn’t quite match his life and their relationship.

During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Groban shared:

“We were both very private, so we realized we’re better as friends. We’ve been very good friends to this day; she’s the best. But I was not expecting that.”

He continued, “That was a double take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that. It’s very sweet of her to say that, and then I listened to the lyrics of the song, and I’m just like, ‘I never owned a Mustang. I don’t have a tattoo. Are you sure that’s about me?’ I’m very flattered by it, but I was very surprised by it too.”

Groban has been dating his current girlfriend, actress and writer Schuyler Helford, since 2017. Schuyler is also known for being the daughter of writer and producer Bruce Helford. At first, Groban and Schuyler kept their relationship to themselves, but they revealed they were together when they were seen walking hand-in-hand at the Tony Awards in 2018.
