Johnny Lee Will Need Two Brain Surgeries In August, Seeks Prayers

Country music legend, Johnny Lee, shared an update on his health this past Monday on Facebook. The “Lookin for Love” singer will be undergoing brain surgery in August. 

On the stars facebook page, Johnny Lee wrote about his upcoming surgical procedures. “August 7th I'm having brain surgery in Houston because of my parkinson's disease. It will help me walk better,” he said. Last year, Lee was diagnosed with the degenerative disorder. Radio show host Michael Berry wrote the update on his Facebook:

“Just got off the phone with Johnny Lee. He's been diagnosed with Parkinson's, but he's gonna fight through this.” He added, “He's lettin folks know so they understand it might slow him down a bit on stage. What a career, what a guy.”

According to Medical News Today, Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder, symptoms develop gradually over time and become worse. The disease severity varies from person to person, however, most common symptoms are difficulty with motor skills, body stiffness,  and tremors. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimate that about 50,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's while around half a million people are currently living with the condition.

The country singer also shared that on August 21st he will have another operation for the second part of his brain surgery. He will then return two weeks after that surgery to have a “battery put in.” Johnny Lee wrote, “I’m doing this all because I'm having problems walking. I will be fine. I’m asking for prayers. God gave me the talent and I plan on using it until the day I die.”
