Johnny Depp's Friendship With Nicolas Cage Changed The Course Of His Career

One of Hollywood's iconic actors is "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp. He has appeared in several of director Tim Burton's films throughout his illustrious career, including "Edward Scissorhands," "Sleepy Hollow," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and "Alice in Wonderland." Depp is widely regarded as one of the world's most famous movie stars and was listed as the highest-paid actor by Guinness World Records in 2012.

Depp dropped out of high school and began his career as a musician before moving into acting. He made his movie debut in 1984 with the horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The actor then became a household name with his success on the television series "21 Jump Street." Some of the star's other notable films include "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "Finding Neverland," and "Donnie Brasco."

In his personal life, Depp has been married and divorced twice. He has also had long-term relationships with other women, including Winona Ryder, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children. Paradis and Depp were together from 1998 to 2012.

Depp has been receiving negative publicity, especially after his private life started unfolding in public. In 2015, he married Amber Heard, but she filed for a divorce in 2016, and more information regarding their relationship has since become known.

After a tumultuous last few years, Depp has now reached a new point in his life. Not only have his recent troubles ended with his ex-wife Heard, but he can now try and focus on his work and passions. Let’s take a look at Depp’s career.

Before becoming the legend he is today, though, Depp had to start out somewhere, and he changed directions from music to acting. His then-wife Lori Alliston introduced him to fellow actor Nicolas Cage, and the rest is history. The two men quickly established a great friendship and Cage encouraged Depp to really consider pursuing a career in acting.

Soon enough, Depp was going out for auditions and successfully landed the part of the main character's boyfriend in the Wes Craven 1984 classic horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Even though Depp hadn't had acting experience, he continued to impress casting agents and directors and landed more and more roles. By the end of the 1980s, Depp was a certified teen idol, thanks in part to his role in the TV series "21 Jump Street."

The actor struck gold when he landed arguably one of the biggest roles of his career. Depp stepped into a role some said he was made for. Starring in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” Depp became even more of a fan favorite. He would go on to star in five total movies of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” by Disney

Sadly, Depp faced some career setbacks in the late 2010s and early 2020s due to a myriad of reasons. As a result, Depp didn't act in many major films for some time, and it was unclear which direction his career was headed. After divorcing his ex-wife, Heard, back in 2016— Depp faced professional backlash due to swirling rumors.

As of June 2022, Depp and Heard’s trial ended. The trial took place from April 2022 to June 2022. On June 1st, 2022 the jury found that three statements of Heard’s statements against Depp had been defamation. Depp was awarded $10 million dollars

After the televised trial was over. Depp spoke out and said that he felt as if he can start living his life again. He posted a letter to his Instagram account.

"Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye," he wrote

"It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career," he posted. "And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled,” the star wrote.

"From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome," Depp said in his social media statement. "Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that,” Depp finished his post writing.

Now that Depp’s public rumors and public trial have finished, we hope to see Depp back on the big screen acting very soon. In January 2022, Variety reported that Depp was scheduled to star as French King Louis XV, "Louis the Beloved," in an upcoming film currently titled "Jeanne du Barry." The movie begins filming in the summer of 2022 and marks the comeback of Johnny Depp to the big screen.
