Johnny Depp Finds New Love With His Former Lawyer From Defamation Case Against Ex-Wife Amber Heard

One of Hollywood’s most iconic actors is “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp. He has appeared in several of director Tim Burton’s films throughout his illustrious career, including “Edward Scissorhands,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and “Alice in Wonderland.” Depp is widely regarded as one of the world’s most famous movie stars and was listed as the highest-paid actor by Guinness World Records in 2012. 

As his career flourished, Johnny Depp was considered one of the most promising heartthrobs of the 1990s and has been linked to various women. From 1983 to 1985, he was married to make-up artist Lori Allison. Afterward, he also dated Jennifer Grey and Sherilynn Fenn. In the early 90s, he proposed to his “Edward Scissorhands” co-actor Winona Ryder. The two broke up eventually, and he proceeded to date model Kate Moss. 

After a relationship with Kate Moss, Depp met Vanessa Paradis, who became the mother of her two children – Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp. The couple’s marriage, however, did not flourish and ended in 2012, a year after Johnny Depp began dating Amber Heard. The two were wed in 2015 but ended a year after Heard asked for a divorce. 

Before being romantically linked to Johnny Depp, American actress Amber Heard was known for her roles in many American movies, including “Pineapple Express,” “Magic Mike XXL,” “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane,” and “The Rum Diary” where she starred alongside Johnny Depp. 

But her most notable film portrayal was on DC Comic’s Extended Universe as Mera in the “Aquaman” film franchise. She has played the role in two films already, “Justice League,” and “Aquaman.” Heard was supposed to appear in a third film, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” but was eventually cut out from the flick after fan outrage surrounding the defamation case against Johnny Depp. 

In 2016, Amber Heard filed a temporary restraining order against Johnny Depp, saying that during the duration of his marriage with the actor, she has experienced repeated physical and verbal abuse from him. 

“I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him,” Amber Heard said in a statement. 

The divorce reached a settlement, but Depp pursued legal action in the United Kingdom after The Sun accused him of being a “wife beater.” Depp did not like the words used against him and decided to employ the services of Joelle Rich, a lawyer specializing in defamation cases in the United Kingdom. 

But despite Depp’s camp’s best efforts, they did not win the legal battle back then. It would seem, however, like the actor scored a more valuable thing – a budding and beautiful relationship with Joelle Rich. 

According to Tatler, Joelle Rich is a London-based partner from Schillings LLP, an international reputation and privacy consultancy employed by Johnny Depp on his UK defamation trial against The Sun. Rich is a highly experienced litigator who helps individuals and families in the public eye protect their privacy and reputations, working to defend their reputations against false and defamatory allegations in print, online, and on social media.

Aside from Johnny Depp, Rich has also represented Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, in a lawsuit against Mail on a Sunday last 2021. She possesses a decade-long experience in navigating media law and a robust experience in handling libel, privacy, and copyright cases. The Schillings website described Joelle Rich to have been a part of the team which has won major privacy and copyright cases that were highly publicized.

In the 2022 trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, Joelle Rich was present in court, not as a lawyer, but as a supporter of the musician actor in the televised court hearings. 

Per PEOPLE Magazine, there had been speculations on the two’s relationship after Rich was spotted on the court as a watcher. But the then-rumor was shut down after reports that Rich was actually married. The publication reported that she was spotted in several proceedings in the Virginia Court. She was also photographed on three instances – hugging Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp, and exiting the court in a later hearing. 

But months after the court favored Johnny Depp in the defamation trial, the real score between the actor and his lawyer is finally revealed, and it seems like it has progressed into something that would make both of them happier. 

According to US Weekly, they have confirmed that Johnny Depp and Joelle Rich are actually dating. 

“Their chemistry is off the charts. It’s serious between them. They are the real deal,” the insider told the entertainment publication. 

Meanwhile, the source also explained the reason why Joelle Rich was present at a Virginia court during Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s trial last April to June 2022. 

“There was no professional obligation for her being there. It was personal,” the source reveals. Apparently, at the start of the sweet couple’s relationship, they were just meeting at hotels as they were still being “discreet.”

At the time that Joelle Rich and Johnny Depp met in 2018, the former was still wed to her husband. She had been pursuing a divorce settlement ever since. Joelle Rich has two beautiful children, which is similar to her boyfriend, Johnny Depp, who is the proud father of two children himself: Lily Rose and Jack.
