2020 has been a long year for everyone but especially the Travolta family, who lost their matriarch, Kelly Preston, in July, following a battle with breast cancer. Since then John Travolta has made a few public mentions of the family's loss, as has his lookalike daughter Ella Bleu Travolta.

This also happens to be the first Christmas that the family celebrated without Preston, but that didn't stop Ella Bleu Travolta from posting a sweet message to her Instagram, wishing her followers happy holidays.

Christmas is a time to be with the ones you love, which makes it especially difficult for families that may have recently lost someone. Celebrities are no exception and this year has been a difficult one for John Travolta and his family, as they lost their matriarch, Kelly Preston, to breast cancer in July. At the time Travolta and his daughter Ella Bleu Travolta both wrote moving posts about Preston. Since then, the family has taken time to mourn in private, however, they've occasionally given the public a glimpse into their lives and how they're moving on.

The holidays were no exception, with Ella Bleu Travolta sharing a sweet message with her Instagram followers. Posted on Christmas Day, the short video features her standing in front of a white Christmas tree that's lit up festively, wearing a casual black pajama top with her long brown hair draped to one side. With a heartwarming smile she says directly into the camera:

"Before the night is over I wanted to say good night and Merry Christmas, and I hope you all had a beautiful day and I'm looking forward to the new year with all of you."

She ends her message by clasping her hands together and giving a kiss. The daughter of Travolta and Preston captioned the video with a simple, "Happy holidays ❤️❤️❤️" Like many Generation Z kids, Ella is big on Instagram, boasting over 380,000 followers. She often posts photos of herself and her family, showing how close their bond really is.

But she wasn't the only member of the Travolta family to spread some good cheer, as John Travolta posted his own touching video on his personal Instagram page. Travolta recorded his two children in front of their Christmas tree opening presents before saying from behind the camera, "say Merry Christmas Ella." The bright-eyed and smiling Ella Bleu instantly says "Merry Christmas" and waves to the camera. He then turns to his son Ben and repeats the same phrase before the young teenager wishes everyone a Merry Christmas too. He captioned the post, "Merry Christmas from the Travolta family!🎄" Fans were very happy to see the family celebrating Christmas in such a warm way, knowing how hard the year has been for them.

In the nearly six months since Preston's death, both John and Ella Bleu Travolta have shared little snippets into how they're doing while often honoring Preston at the same time. In August John Travolta shared a video of him dancing with his daughter in honor of Preston. He explained why they were dancing in the video, writing:

"My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma. One of Kelly’s favorite things, dancing with me."

Then on Preston's birthday on October 13, he posted a photo of him and her on their wedding day alongside his own parents at their wedding. He captioned the moving post with words directed to his late wife:

"Happy Birthday hon! I found this photo of my mom and dad‘s wedding. It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John."

Meanwhile, Ella Bleu Travolta also wrote a post for her late mom's birthday by sharing a photo of the two of them from when she was a toddler, in which Preston is laughing beautifully while holding her. She captioned it with a simple "Happy Birthday Mama, I love you so much❤️❤️❤️"

Preston passed away in July of this year following a two year “courageous fight” against breast cancer, which she kept away from the public. Her death was announced by Travolta on Instagram, who wrote:

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.  My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered."

He went on to say that he'd be taking time off to be there for Ella and Ben as they all mourned Kelly's passing:

"I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT"

At the time Ella Bleu shared her own post honoring her mom. Accompanying a beautiful photo of Kelly, Ella wrote:

"I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful and loving as you. Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy. Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama."

While the family had the support of the public and other celebrities, it was only natural that they would want to grieve in private. However, as they've each opened up a little more through their Instagram posts, sharing sweet memories of Preston, it's been wonderful to see them move on from their loss while keeping her spirit alive.

Kelly Preston, who was 57 at the time of her death, was a well-known actress, starring in such movies as Jerry Maguire, Twins, and For the Love of the Game. In fact, she'd met her future husband John Travolta on the set of their 1987 film The Experts. Although Preston was married to someone else, she said in a 2018 interview she "was really with the wrong person" at the time. But soon enough Preston and Travolta married in 1991 and had babies on their minds.

The couple had welcomed three children in total—20-year-old daughter Ella Bleu, 10-year-old Benjamin, and a son named Jett who passed away in 2009 at the age of 16. While the family was away on vacation, Jett had a seizure and hit his head on the bathtub, tragically passing away not long after.

While the family was grieving Jett's death, the couple had Ben, which they later described as bringing them closer. John Travolta told Good Morning America in a 2016 interview:

"We certainly have bonded together. And certainly, having little Ben has been a beautiful kind of glue for us to re-bond after tremendous loss."

Unfortunately, it would be just over one decade before they'd lose another family member, this time the matriarch of their family to cancer. Despite the tragedies the family has endured, John, Ella, and Benjamin Travolta all appear very close, particularly father and daughter.

Ella Bleu Travolta appears to be a lovely young woman who embodies the charisma that both of her parents were known to have and it's a pleasure to see her grow up and mature. She's even following in her famous parents' footsteps and began working as an actress. And considering her stunning looks—coming from both of her parents—it's no surprise she wants to work in show business. Speaking with People last year, the budding actress stated:

"Since I was very little, I’ve loved performing, singing, dancing, and putting on shows at home for my family and friends."

She already made her acting debut all the way back in 2009 in the movie Old Dogs, which also starred both of her parents, as well as Robin Williams. According to The Celebrity Pulse, Ella Bleu Travolta said: "It was awesome to act with my parents in my first movie, it made it a lot easier." Since then she's starred with John once more, in the movie The Poison Rose

For now, it's uncertain what other movie projects Ella Bleu Travolta has coming up but it's clear that she's very close to her family and takes after Kelly not only in her gorgeous looks but also in her kind spirit. We look forward to seeing her acting career blossom as she grows up even more beautiful, inside and out.
