John Travolta & Kelly Preston’s Daughter Ella Is "The Most Beautiful Combination" of Her Famous Parents

John Travolta has had a decades-spanning career, but it's hard to forget him as Danny Zuko in "Grease" — the black-haired stud who broke the hearts of women worldwide. After marrying fellow actor Kelly Preston, who was a bombshell of her time, the couple had three children and continued their successful careers in Hollywood.

John has been in the spotlight since the 1970s, having graced the screen in many classic movies, including "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever," and then in his famed comeback in the 1990s with "Pulp Fiction," "Get Shorty," "Face/Off," and many more. His late wife, Preston, who sadly passed away from breast cancer at age 57 in July 2020, was also a well-known actress, starring in movies such as "Jerry Maguire" and "For the Love of the Game."

The couple met on the set of their 1987 film "The Experts." Despite being married to someone else at the time, she said in a 2018 interview that she "was really with the wrong person" at the time. Her marriage couldn't stop the love from growing, though. The couple started spending more time together, and soon enough, Preston and John married in 1991, with babies on their minds. 

Over the following years, their children, Jett Travolta, Ella Bleu Travolta, and Benjamin Travolta, were born. Tragically, Jett passed away in 2009 at the age of 16 due to a sudden seizure and subsequent fall. The couple was devastated at the loss of their firstborn. Since Jett and Preston’s passing, John’s family of three has only gotten closer.

As John’s children aged, many of his fans seemed to notice their resemblance, especially with Ella, who perfectly embodies her father's charisma and her late mother's timeless beauty. Read on to learn more about John and his daughter, Ella. 

Despite the family's tragedies, John, Ella, and Benjamin appear very close, particularly father and daughter. At age 23, Ella decided to follow in her parents' footsteps and pursue acting. Considering her stunning looks—coming from both of her parents—it's no surprise Ella wants to work in show business. She has appeared in “The Yummy Gummy Search For Santa” and “Lost In Wonderland.” Speaking withPEOPLE in 2019, she stated:

"Since I was very little, I’ve loved performing, singing, dancing, and putting on shows at home for my family and friends."

She made her acting debut in the 2009 movie "Old Dogs," which also starred her parents and Robin Williams. Ella told Celebrity Pulse that it was “awesome” to act with her parents in her first movie as “it made it a lot easier." Since then, she's starred with her father once more in the movie "The Poison Rose." The father-daughter duo's professional relationship seems to be strong and very positive.

In 2019, Ella appeared in a joint interview with her dad on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” where the up-and-coming actor spoke with guest host Lena Waithe about growing up with famous parents. As expected, the young actress had some fascinating stories to share. Growing up on sets, Ella explained that she had met multiple famous figures throughout her life – even Oprah. Ella shared:

"I actually lost my first tooth with Oprah on a boat. I guess (she was a tooth fairy,) you know, it just happened. I was really excited. I think I swallowed the tooth."

Elsewhere in the Jimmy Kimmel interview, Ella also revealed that just like most dads, her father also had some pretty "uncool" moments. Ella narrated:

"There was one time that, actually, (actor) Taylor Lautner was coming over to the house, and I was just – I loved him... And my friends and I were looking up pictures of him and just, sort of researching him (...) and (John Travolta) knew that."

Naturally, Travolta did what any dad would do: he embarrassed his daughter in front of her celebrity crush. 

"The first thing he says to them (upon arrival) is 'Oh, Ella was just looking you guys up on the internet.'" 

In 2021, John shared a selfie with his two children, Ella and Benjamin, on Instagram. The trio is fresh-faced and smiling directly at the camera. The proud father captioned the post:

"Happy Father’s Day everyone! It is a privilege to be the father of these two beautiful children - thank you for the honor and my love and respect to all fathers."

Considering their close bond, it's no surprise that Ella made a special post on Instagram for her father's 69th birthday in February 2023. Alongside a sweet photo of the daughter embracing her father, Ella wrote:

"Yesterday marked the birthday of my hero. The most incredible father, friend and role model anyone could ask for. I love you, Daddy❤️❤️❤️"

John commented on the post:

"I love you to my dearest Ella. More than you know. ❤️"

A few celebrity friends commented on the touching tribute, including Jeremy Renner, who wrote "So sweet" alongside heart emojis. Meanwhile, William Baldwin said, "Happy B-Day John!!!" 

John's support and trust have given Ella the confidence to actively pursue a career in showbiz. In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, she revealed that her late mother and father had encouraged her to pursue the arts at a tender age. 

“In our house in Maine we have this stage area set up with a little red curtain and my friends and I would perform there…We did (everything), from the Hulk to Christmas shows and one year we all played different ‘Housewives of Maine.’” 

According to the budding actress, the support of her father “helped so much,” as it was “so comforting for her.” For Ella, her father is the “best mentor ever.” When talking about her parents, she stated:

“Whatever I would have chosen to do they would have supported me. But they’re really proud of me for (acting)…and that makes me proud too!”

On Feb. 27, 2024, Ella stunned her father and his fans when she posted her look from the Elisabetta Franchi fashion show during Milan Fashion Week. The post has since been deleted, but before that, fans showered Ella with love in the comments section, expressing how she resembled her late mother and father. One fan commented:

"Absolutely stunning. She resembles her beautiful mom. I know she is so proud."

Another one echoed:

"The most beautiful combination of mother and father."

A third person stated:

"So beautiful just like your mom and dad."

In the sea of praises, John’s compliments floated atop:

"I'm so proud of you my baby. You look gorgeous."
