John Travolta & Kelly Preston Pay Birthday Tribute To Late Son, Jett Travolta

On Monday, John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston, paid tribute to their late son, Jett, on what would have been his 28th birthday. Jett passed on at age 16 in 2009 following an accident while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston are celebrating the life of their first child, Jett, on what would have been his 28th birthday on April 13. The family each took to instagram on Monday with birthday wishes, messages of love, and family photos in honor of their oldest child and sibling.

The 16-year-old, who had autism and had a history of seizures, passed on in 2009 after having a seizure and hitting his head on a bathtub in the Bahamas.

The 66-year-old actor shared this photo on his instagram page in which father and son looked into each other’s eyes and smiled. It is one of several sweet photos of Jett shared by members of their family.

Travolta and Preston, who married in 1991, are also parents to two other children, daughter Ella, 20, and son Benjamin, 9.

In celebration of Autism Awareness Month in April, Kelly shared another message to honor Jett and others living with the developmental disorder.

“I have a special place in my heart for those with autism and special needs,” the 57-year-old actress wrote.

“Sending love to some of my favorite people in the world. My son Jetty was one of the most playful and wonderful souls you’ve ever met. Love to all of you with autism and special needs around the world.”

The special occasion came days after the Travoltas' daughter, Ella, celebrated her 20th birthday. Her father shared how she put her candles out in an improvised manner: Since she couldn't blow them out while wearing a mask, she used towels to wave over the cake until they were extinguished.

John has also shared an adorable Easter greeting video from his family of four. Kelly held up a sunflower, Ella had colored eggs, John had a ceramic bunny on his lap, and Benjamin wrapped up the message with a silly dance.

After his son's passing, John set up The Jett Travolta Foundation, a charitable organization that aims to assist and provide relief to children with vision, hearing, mobility, communication, behavior learning impairments or other special medical, environmental, health or educational needs.
