John Travolta Is Seen In Rare Picture With Daughter Ella And Son Benjamin On His First Father's Day Since Kelly Preston Died From Cancer At 57 Nearly A Year Ago

John Travolta has been a superstar since the 1970s when he burst onto Hollywood's scene as he appeared in a succession of films including "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease," and quickly he became a rising star. And although his career has had its ups and downs, he's always managed to rise back to the top.

Now 67 years old, John is in a different stage of his life, and sadly, the last year has been a difficult one for him and his family, as his wife of nearly three decades, actress Kelly Preston, passed away in July 2020 after a battle with breast cancer. Since then, John has made a few public mentions of the family's loss, as has his lookalike daughter Ella Bleu Travolta.

After taking some time to grieve in private and to be there for his daughter and son Benjamin, John began making a reappearance on social media in late 2020, often posting moving tributes to his late wife and honoring her legacy. Ella has also taken to social media to honor her late mother, as well as sharing just how important family — and her dad — are to her.

In May, John shared a moving tribute to Preston on Mother's Day, in which he posted photos of his children and thanked her for bringing them into the world. Now, that Father's Day was over the last weekend, John posted another moving family tribute to his Instagram. Appearing with Ella and Benjamin, John wrote a heartwarming caption to accompany the image. Meanwhile, Ella shared a post of her own, honoring her dad on the special day.

John Travolta shared a candid selfie taken with his two children, Ella Bleu Travolta and Benjamin Travolta to his Instagram channel. The trio is fresh-faced and smiling directly at the camera. The proud father captioned the post:

"Happy Father’s Day everyone! It is a privilege to be the father of these two beautiful children - thank you for the honor and my love and respect to all fathers."

Ella commented on her father's post with heart emojis, and she also shared a moving tribute to her dad on her own page. Alongside a photo of the trio outside of a historic building, Ella wrote:

"Daddy, You make parenting look so easy, though it not always is. You make everyday better than the one before it. You bring joy to us when we are down. You are our best friend and we love you to the moon and back around. I hope to be even half as good of a parent as you someday❤️❤️❤️ Happy Father’s Day to this incredible man and to all of the amazing Dads out there✨"

The Travolta family are incredibly close and even more so after the death of their matriarch. Specifically, we're seeing a lot of bonding moments between John and Ella in the last year. In fact, the father and daughter even starred in a Super Bowl commercial this year in a nod to "Grease." The Scotts Miracle-Gro ad featured John and Ella in their lush, green backyard, as they recreated the famous hand jive scene from the prom in the movie.

The sweet Father's Day posts come just over one month after John shared a touching tribute to his late wife Kelly Preston on the first Mother's Day since her death in July last year. Posting on May 10, John wrote:

"Dearest Kelly, you brought into my life three of the most wonderful children I have ever known. Thank you. We love and miss you. Happy Mother’s Day."

The actor shared two photos, the first of which shows Preston, Ella, Benjamin — who was still a baby then — and John all dressed in white, while the second is an older photo of him and Preston with their late son Jett Travolta, who tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 16.

After taking time to heal after losing Preston last year, John has since opened up about his grief in interviews and on social media. Speaking with Esquire Mexico in April, the actor revealed, as reported by People:

"I learned that mourning someone, living in grief, is very personal. Grief is personal and finding your own path is what could lead to healing. It's different than someone else's journey."

He added:

"The most important thing you can do to help people going through grief is allow them the space to live it and not complicate their journey with your own."

In a poignant moment he also told the publication:

"Life is movement and a journey; what you leave behind in people, I guess that's your legacy."

He also talked about supporting his children in whatever they wished to do, for example, helping Ella establish her acting career. Meanwhile, Ben, who is just 10-years-old, has his whole life ahead of him, so John's current focus is on helping him evolve.
