John Stamos Uploads Adorable Montage Of Mirror Selfies With Son In Celebration Of His Third Birthday

Apr 15, 2021 by apost team

John Stamos, 57, took to social media on Sunday, April 11, to celebrate his son’s third birthday. The video montage on Instagram featured the birthday boy, William “Billy” Christopher, in a series of fun and adorable bathroom selfies with his father. As if the birthday tribute couldn’t get any more heartwarming, Stamos also set the slideshow to the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows,” an emotional love song from the 1960s.

Stamos, known for his roles on ABC’s 1980s hit “Full House” and more recent shows like Disney’s newly released “Big Shot” television series, welcomed his son in April 2018. Stamos is a relative latecomer to fatherhood, as the 57-year-old actor built quite a career for himself before starting a family. Of course, it was also likely important for Stamos to find the right partner. After going through a divorce from actress Rebecca Romjin in August 2004, Stamos found love again with Caitlin McHugh, a model and actress. The couple announced that they were expecting their first child — who would later become Billy Christopher — in the spring of 2018 when Stamos was 54 years old.

Since then, Stamos has kept fans up to date with his family life on Instagram, where he regularly posts photos of the young boy on occasions like the Fourth of July and the actor’s birthday.

“I can’t put into words the magnitude of the love I feel for this little guy. Happy Birthday Son. God only knows what I’d be without you. #aftershowerseries,” Stamos wrote on Instagram alongside the shower selfie slideshow.

Since Stamos posted the montage on Sunday, it has accumulated more than 250,000 views – along with a fair share of happy birthday wishes in the comments.

In an April 2021 interview with ET, Stamos opened up about his relatively new father role.

"It's much harder than I ever thought," Stamos told ET. "I've been around kids my whole life, on TV shows (and) my nieces and nephews. I also wanted to be a father, and my wife does most of it, but boy is it a responsibility."

Stamos and his wife had Billy just months after tying the knot, making for two significant life transitions for the actor. While the relationship is fresh and Stamos is a parenting novice — even at 57 — he still seems to take his role as a father seriously.

"At the end of the day, you don't want a trophy and you don't 'win,' you don't get a ring. But if you do it right, you've raised a kid that's loving enough, that's smart enough, and that's caring enough to be a better version of yourself," Stamos said in his interview with ET. "I get choked up thinking about it."

As for what sage advice Stamos plans on teaching his son, the actor explained that he wants Billy to strive to do his best.

"At the end of the day, can you look in the mirror and go, 'I did my best. I did my very best?'" Stamos said. "I think those are the things I'm gonna be (teaching) to my son. Do your best."

Stamos spoke with ET on account of his new Disney+ show, “Big Shot,” which premiers on April 16. The 57-year-old actor plays the lead role on the sports dramedy as a basketball coach at a private girl’s school. Reviews of the show have mostly been positive, with Entertainment Weekly critic Kristen Baldwin writing that Stamos is “capable of delivering dry wit and sweet sentiment in equal measure.”

“It would be foolish to hire professional dreamboat John Stamos only to keep his charm under a bushel,” Baldwin writes. “So the actor's mere presence as the star of Big Shot — about a famously temperamental, hard-nosed college basketball coach who is demoted to a girls' high school team — somewhat undermines the show's premise. Of course, Stamos' Coach Korn will turn out to be a softie at his core. But it's a flaw that works in the sports dramedy's favor, as the actor makes for a likable grump opposite an engaging young ensemble.”

Brad Garett of “Everybody Loves Raymond” fame; David E. Kelly, the man who created “Doogie Howser, M.D.” and “Big Little Lies”; and television writer Dean Lorey are at the helm of the new show, which Baldwin says has “all the hallmarks of a Kelly production: Eccentric personalities, heart-tugging family dynamics, and low-stakes workplace conflicts.”

“Big Shot’s” first season is slated to run for ten episodes on the Disney+ streaming platform.
