During a heartfelt appearance on the “Good Guys” podcast on Oct. 20, 2025, John Stamos opened up about longtime friend Lori Loughlin’s personal struggles, particularly her separation from her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli. Stamos showed his unwavering loyalty to Loughlin, proving that their bond extended far beyond the television screens that first brought them together decades ago.
The two first met while portraying the beloved couple Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky on “Full House,” which aired from the late 1980s through the 1990s. Their on-screen chemistry evolved into a deep off-screen friendship that has lasted for more than three decades. Speaking about Loughlin, Stamos didn’t hold back his admiration, calling her “a saint.”
Stamos said he’s “just heartbroken for her right now” when asked about her current emotional state following the end of her marriage. Stamos stated with clear emotions: “She’s just devastated. For a girl who has lived her life really well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife – I know all this for a fact – to be thrown into now this separation and, you know, exploding, blowing up her family this way,”
He admitted, “I just hate to see her go through this. I really do.” The actor also spoke about the importance of standing by Loughlin during some of the most challenging chapters of her life, including the infamous college admissions scandal. Stamos revealed that he has “really tried to be there for her during this time, and also with the college scandal.”
The 2019 legal troubles began when Loughlin and Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 to secure spots for their daughters, YouTuber Olivia Jade and Isabella, at the University of Southern California as fake crew recruits. When news of the federal investigation broke, Stamos recalled immediately reaching out to Loughlin.

Stamos said he texted Loughlin after realizing that the press conference about the scandal was airing on “every channel.” He said that was the last time he “heard from her for a while,” implying the immense emotional toll that followed.
In May 2020, both Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud charges. Loughlin served two months in federal prison, completing her sentence in December 2020, while Giannulli received a five-month term. Through it all, Stamos offered support to Loughlin. He recalled telling his close friend about Giannulli:
“I said, ‘Look, all the negativity or hard hardships that you’ve been through in your life is connected to this guy. Whatever he did to her, it busted her up to the core. She put up with a lot over the years of this guy. And again, I’m not going to get into the relationship. It’s not my business. I mean, I know a lot, and I was by her side through a lot of it. She is an angel, and she always made things better. She cleaned everything up. He’s a very successful dude.”
However, Stamos made it clear that his personal connection with Giannulli has ended, declaring, “I will never talk to him again.” His opinion of the designer was blunt:
“He’s a terrible narcissist, and I don’t think you ever get out of that unless you’re able to.”
Stamos also wondered, “How do you bust that up?” Despite his frustration, Stamos expressed compassion for Giannulli’s personal struggles.
“I pray for this guy,” he said, concluding, “I pray that he gets a hold of whatever hole that he’s trying to fill, however he’s trying to fill it. I pray that he realizes that what he had was everything that anyone could ever hope for and that he gets some help. I think this guy needs help.”
