Jodie Sweetin Has A Message About Dave Coulier After His Difficult Cancer Battle

The "Full House" cast has stayed close long after the beloved sitcom wrapped, with its stars continuing to show up for one another through life's biggest challenges. Jodie Sweetin recently offered a glimpse into that enduring bond while attending the Scleroderma Research Foundation's Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraising event on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Although her former co-star Dave Coulier was unable to attend in person, the gathering brought together familiar faces to celebrate friendship and support a cause close to the entertainment community.

Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on the family sitcom, told PEOPLE that the cast remains as close as ever.

"We're still super close," Sweetin said. "We're all doing [90s Con in Hartford this coming weekend]. Yeah, we're like obnoxiously annoyingly close. Andrea Barber and I just stayed at Dave Coulier's for a weekend. Yeah, we're a family."

The reunion comes as Coulier continues to navigate a challenging period in his life. The actor revealed in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He announced five months later that he was in remission, bringing encouraging news after months of treatment.

However, his health challenges continued when he received another cancer diagnosis in December 2025. This time, he was diagnosed with tongue cancer, adding another difficult chapter to an already demanding journey.

In February, Coulier shared that he was in remission from tongue cancer, marking another important milestone.

Despite the health challenges, his connection with his former castmates has remained a constant. At the recent fundraiser, Coulier also found a way to participate in an evening honoring a friend whose legacy continues to inspire others.

The Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraising event honored John Stamos with the Bob Saget Legacy Award. Saget, who played Danny Tanner on "Full House," died in January 2022. His friendships with his castmates continued beyond the sitcom, and the award named in his honor recognizes those who carry forward his commitment to supporting others.

Although Coulier couldn't attend the event in person, he sent a prerecorded video congratulating Stamos on the honor. The message offered a glimpse of the humor and affection that have long defined their friendship.

"I'm so sorry that I can't be there at the Scleroderma Research Foundation's Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine event because... well, I'm here on a tractor in Michigan," Coulier said in the video.

He then addressed Stamos directly, reflecting on their connection and the bond they shared with Saget.

"I want to congratulate you, John, on receiving the Bob Saget Legacy Award. You and Bob have always been like beautiful sisters to me, and I love you very much," he said.

Coulier ended his message by praising the event's organizers and encouraging attendees to continue supporting the cause.

"And you Scleroderma people, man, you sure know how to put on a great show. So enjoy the rest of the night and raise lots of money," he said, before finishing with a quick impression of Stamos.

With the reunion approaching, Sweetin also shared an encouraging message about a friend who has faced a difficult health journey. She acknowledged that Coulier had endured "such a tough battle" and reflected on how meaningful it had been to spend quiet moments together.

"Sitting around and having coffee with him in the morning meant so much," she told PEOPLE.

As for how Coulier is doing now, Sweetin offered a reassuring update, telling PEOPLE that he is doing "really well."
