Jodie Foster Steps Out With Son Charlie In Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Hollywood’s most celebrated talents gathered on Feb. 24, 2025, for the 31st Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. While many of our favorite celebrities grabbed attention either as power couples or dressed flawlessly as they walked the red carpet solo, some managed to do both. 

One such icon is two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, who graced the event with a special plus-one: her son, Charlie Foster. The iconic actress and director, known for her enigmatic presence and powerhouse performances, made a rare public appearance with her 26-year-old son, turning the evening into a touching family affair. 

Jodie, 62, had already won two awards during the 2025 awards season and was nominated for a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie for her role in “True Detective: Night Country.” Other nominees in the same category included Hollywood greats Cate Blanchett for “Disclaimer” and Kathy Bates for her role in “The Great Lillian Hall.”

Jodie looked radiant in an elegant maroon dress, effortlessly embodying the timeless elegance that has defined her decades-long career. She accessorized the look with chunky gold bracelets. Her son, who is pursuing a career in acting, looked dapper, complementing her with a sharp tuxedo, exuding poise and sophistication. He also engaged in charming conversation with other Hollywood celebrities at the event. Their striking resemblance and warm camaraderie lit up the red carpet, giving fans a rare glimpse into Jodie’s life beyond the silver screen.

Jodie shares two sons – Charlie and Christopher “Kit” Foster – with her former partner, Cydney Bernard. The pair were together from 1993 until their separation in 2008. The “The Silence of the Lambs” star is now married to photographer and director Alexandra Hedison. The 2025 awards season brought out Jodie’s family-oriented side, with her dedicating her Golden Globe Award to her family.

“I just want to thank my family. Because Kit, my scientist son, and Charlie, my actor son who’s starting his career, hopefully you understand the joy, such joy, that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work,” she said. “So my boys, I love you, and this, of course, is for you.”

This wasn’t the first time the actress expressed her pride in her sons and her love for them. In an interview in 2024, she spoke about how they were dealing with insecurities as their careers started taking off. She explained that she was excited about their futures and how their careers would develop. 

“But every time they get a joy, like I got an ‘A’ or I got this job or I got an audition, my heart just fills up 14 times because I have this memory of a beautiful career that’s built on doing meaningful work, and I know that's the recipe for happiness,” she shared. “So I’m just thrilled for them, for the future.”

Jodie and Charlie were among the best red-carpet duos at the SAG awards, and it is heartwarming to imagine that Charlie will soon follow in his mother’s footsteps.
