Joan Collins is a star in every essence of the word. Born on May 23, 1933, she was raised in London, England. She has been a notable actress for several decades and is also recognized for her talents as a writer, both as a columnist and as an author.

Collins attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts during her teenage years before going on to land several roles in the 1950s. She went on to appear in many films and television shows as her career picked up, such as “The Road to Hong Kong” in 1962, “These Old Broads” in 2001, and even recently in “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” in 2018.

Collins’ most notable role was portraying the character Alexis Colby, in the soap opera “Dynasty” from 1981 until 1989, which earned her plenty of praise and recognition. It’s no surprise that she has received plenty of awards and accolades over the course of her lifetime, with a career spanning from the 1950s until the present day. She was even made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2015 for her charitable services.

Nowadays, Collins is taking control of her own narrative, sharing her stories with the world through a book filled with her diary entries and a documentary. Not letting the darker side of the entertainment industry stop her from fulfilling her dreams, Collins has continued to flourish and is still making waves for women of all ages. While people are still impressed with her looks and her legs at the age of 89, Collins is making sure that her words are the main focus.

Collins’ role as Alexis on “Dynasty” was a pivotal moment in her career, truly cementing her reputation as an actress and inspiring others in the future. However, it was not always sunny in Hollywood. In an interview on BBC Radio 4’sWoman Hour,” the actress and author spoke out about how she handled “predatory” men during the start of her career. “It didn’t just start when I went to Hollywood,” Collins explained. “I started in the business at 16 and it started then.”

Despite the inappropriate way men treated her in her younger years, Collins never let anything stop her from pursuing her passions. She explained that she learned how to laugh at it all as her way to move forward with uncomfortable situations. “I coped with it by laughing a lot,” she said. “Men cannot stand it when you laugh at them.”

Back in 2017, Collins spoke about the same topic on “This Morning.” She even said her father didn’t want her to become an actress because of the “bad men” in the industry. Collins admitted she didn’t know what he meant at first but understood when she went on a casting call and was asked to maneuver her clothing to look more revealing for a role with just one line. Collins also recalled some advice Marilyn Monroe had once given her, as she said, “Watch out for the wolves in Hollywood, honey.”

With Collins in control, a BBC documentary titled “This Is Joan Collins” was released on Jan. 1, 2022, featuring home archive footage and historic moments in her career. According to Express, Collins did not want the “very nasty, vicious, mean, spiteful things from reviewers” to be featured in the film, as the documentary is seen through Collins’ “own rollercoaster seven decades in showbiz.”

Collins is known not only for her impressive career but also for her tumultuous love life. Collins has been married five times and has had several high-profile relationships throughout her life.

Her first marriage was to actor Maxwell Reed in 1952 when she was just 19 years old. The marriage was short-lived and ended in 1956. Collins' second marriage was to actor Anthony Newley in 1963. The couple had two children together, but their relationship also ended in divorce in 1970.

In 1972, Collins married American businessman Ron Kass, with whom she had another daughter. The marriage lasted until 1983. Collins' fourth marriage was to Swedish singer Peter Holm in 1985. The couple divorced in 1987, and Collins later wrote about the experience in her book "Past Imperfect."

In 2002, at the age of 68, Collins married her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, who is more than 30 years her junior. The couple met when Gibson was working as a theater producer, and they have been together ever since. Despite the significant age difference, their relationship has been stable and lasting, and they frequently appear together at public events.

Collins told Forbes in March 2022 some of her marriages remain her biggest regrets in life. “I did that too many times. I was stupid. Well, I don’t regret marrying Tony (Newley) because I have two wonderful children and marrying Ron (Kass), I had one beautiful daughter. I sincerely regret marrying the Swede (Holm).”

Her current marriage to Gibson has been a source of stability and joy in her later years. Collins told The Sunday Times, as reported by Daily Mail, that she’s grateful to be married to him. “Thank God I married somebody 30 years younger than me. I couldn't bear to be married to someone my own age,” she said.

While Collins has been recognized for many wonderful attributes over the years, she most recently received a plethora of comments about her stunning body well into her 80s. Collins shared with her fans what she got up to for Christmas 2022, and it included a swim as she showed off her stunning figure in a leopard print swimsuit. Standing in a sparkling blue pool, Collins looked like the epitome of a movie star.

"Had a terrific #christmasday - 82F in #beverlyhills so was able to #swim and then a wonderful #lunch at the Bricusse’s- thank you @adambricusse and Evie!" the iconic actress wrote on her Instagram post.

She also included a photo of her and her husband, Gibson, 58, together in the pool. Another photo showed her dressed in what appeared to be a nightgown, as she unwrapped presents on a couch, and another of Collins at Christmas lunch, which she thanked her hosts for in her caption. In it, she was dressed elegantly in a white blouse and red tartan bottoms, while holding a glass of wine.

Fans were quick to praise the star for how fantastic she looked at age 89. "... you look fabulous in that Leopard swim suit!" wrote one user. Meanwhile, another said:

"So not fair, you look better at 89 than I do at 57, lol. You’re still gorgeous, Joan!"

Another fan wrote: "ageless !!! Age is just a number ! Sexiness is forever." Collins is certainly proving that to be true!

Collins joined forces with another stunning star earlier in December when she posted a photo with former "Charlie's Angels" actress Jaclyn Smith, 77, while they attended a Christmas party. "TV leading ladies of the 80's (sic)," wrote Collins. One fan said it best when they wrote, "Do either of you age?"
