Jimmy Kimmel Thanks Doctors Who Saved Son's Life In A Tribute On His Second Birthday

Jimmy Kimmel chose the occasion of his son's second birthday to thank all of the doctors and nurses who had a hand in saving the sweet boy's life.

Billy Kimmel was born on April 21, 2017, with a congenital heart defect. Known as Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, the defect necessitated that Billy undergoes heart surgery just days after his birth, PEOPLE reported.

Shortly after his son's birth, the late-night television host opened up to his audience about Billy's condition. The heartfelt message resonated with millions of people around the world and spurred discussion about healthcare on a massive scale. Billy had to undergo his second heart surgery at just seven months of age to fix the issue. Thankfully, the tot is doing well today.

Billy was under the care of the staff at both Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Kimmel took the opportunity to thank these medical professionals many times.

On Easter Sunday, Kimmel thanked the staff once more on a special post celebrating his son's birthday. Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, also used social media to express her gratitude while also sending her love to all of the families spending the holiday in the hospital.
