Jimmy Kimmel Reveals Millennials Actually Aren't Able To Read An Analog Clock

Millennials seem to be in the spotlight a lot lately and it’s not usually for a good thing either. They can’t seem to win no matter what their opinions are on anything. Whether it’s their reasons for not buying a house or their lack of knowledge of the government, there’s always something someone finds wrong. The latest reason may just be one of the more comical things I have seen.

Jimmy Kimmel Live has a new segment called “Can You Do It?”. In this segment, Jimmy decides on a basic skill that most people know or were taught how to do at a very young age and tests others out to see if average individuals can perform this skill.

You may be shocked at the results from this week’s segment. Jimmy decided to test some unsuspecting people out, who just so happen to be millennials. The task this week was reading an analog clock. He only asks them to read the time. You can imagine the results are pretty comical.

Jimmy starts the segment by talking about why he is curious about this task.  “Times have changed a lot over the last 30 years, even the way we tell time. When I was a kid, in school I would have to tell time, they would have the thing with all the clocks and you had to write in the time,” he explained.

You might have already figured out that the success rate of reading the analog clock wasn’t very high. Maybe even lower than Jimmy expected. You may even be more shocked to find out that the age of being able to read the analog clock seemed to be those that are over thirty.  Jimmy took to Hollywood Boulevard to start his experiment. He sent the camera crew out to find out if young people could even read an analog clock.

They start off by asking if the people could help them out. Most answered with an excited “yes!”. After answering, their task was given to them. Most of all of the millennials couldn’t do it when they were faced with the clock. Some fumbled around for an answer or they would just say anything instead of nothing.

Some had other reactions. One person was asked if they would like to say anything to their college teacher and of course, she responded very quietly with a “no.” Aside from all of the others, one guy couldn’t help but make everyone laugh, without even trying. Well, you’ll laugh if you actually know how to read the analog clock.

One guy, very overconfident, loudly declared the time as 8:17. It couldn’t have been right though because it was very bright outside like a mid-afternoon. His smile quickly faded when he was asked if the answer he gave was AM or PM.

Why do you think that people can’t read analog clocks anymore? Do you think it has to do with smartphones and tablets? Are you still able to read an analog clock? Let us know in the comments and be sure to pass this article along to everyone you know!
