Jimmy Carter is the perfect example of a famous politician and former president who is content with living a simple life without any need for social media. When compared to other U.S. presidents, Carter and his wife are leading a modest lifestyle.

It's not common to hear a news story or read an article about Jimmy Carter and his family. The same cannot be said about many other former presidents including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Bush Sr. These names are regularly mentioned in the media.

While these former leaders seem to enjoy their time of fame, Jimmy Carter and his family decide to stay out of the public eye.

After serving four years in the White House, Jimmy Carter retired to the house in which he lived before politics - a small, two-bedroom ranch. Carter refuses to fly on chartered flights or private jets. Instead, the former president regularly flies commercial and takes time from his day to meet fellow passengers. The 90-year-old will even stop for pictures.

Jimmy and his wife Rosalynn are perfectly comfortable living in their small hometown. Whether enjoying a long stroll through the park or arranging a weekend dinner at the local restaurants, Jimmy and Rosalynn are more than happy to remain in their humble town.

Once Jimmy Carter retired from the presidency, he decided to retire altogether. Many other presidents will capitalize on their fame by giving speeches in exchange for a massive check, running a profitable company, or writing books.

This summer, the Carters will be celebrating their 73rd year of their marriage. The couple started seeing each other while Jimmy was studying at the Naval Academy. Rosalynn admitted that she had an instant crush on her future husband after seeing him in uniform.
