Jim Carrey’s Look-Alike Daughter Jane Is His Only Constant In Life

Jim Carrey is one of the most talented actors of our time. From hilarious comedies like Dumb and Dumber to his Christmas classic A Christmas Carol, Carrey has undeniably made a lasting mark on Hollywood.

Beloved as he might be, the actor has also had quite a turbulent personal life, especially when it comes to romance. One constant he's had throughout, however, is his only child Jane Carrey.

On June 6, 1987, Jane Carrey was born to Jim Carrey and his first wife, Melissa Womer. The pair had met at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, where Carrey did stand up, and Womer was a waitress and an aspiring actress. They married that same year but sadly divorced in 1995.

Carrey and Womer kept their relationship private as far as they possibly could, but it was a shock when the couple announced their divorce. According to The Spokesman-Review, both of them discussed the pitfalls of Hollywood marriages and vowed it would never happen to them from the day they met. However, their relationship could not stand the pressure of Carrey's sudden capitulation into stardom, and the couple went their separate ways.

Despite his divorce and with Jane going on to live with her mother, Carrey remained close with his daughter and made it a priority to be a part of her life. Earlier this year, the actor opened up to CBS News about how he always turns to his daughter for advice.

"My daughter is one of the most brilliant counsels of my life," Carrey said. "Honestly, she is so wise and so loving … she brought me back from the brink a couple of times." He further elaborated on this, by saying "...she just has chimed in with a few words that have really, like, opened my heart and settled me down and made me feel like everything's all right. She's just wonderful."

Carrey also spoke of his own relationship with his father, Percy Carrey, and how that had helped him become the person he is today. Speaking to CBS News, the actor revealed that his father supported him when he first started his career, driving him to gigs and helping him write his first jokes.

"My dad, I wish the whole world could know my dad," and added, "But maybe they know him a little bit through me. He was there for me. My absolute champion."

However, this isn't to say that everything was always rosy in Carrey's life. In fact, the struggles he had faced when younger pushed him to pursue a career in comedy. His life turned upside down at age 12 when his father lost his job, and his mother became sick. In an interview from 2004 with CBS News, Carrey said that his sense of humor sprung from a darker place. He began to use his stark ability to make people laugh as a way to bring his mother out of her depression.

"I had a sick mom, man. I wanted to make her feel better," he said.

"I used to go in there and do impressions of praying mantises, and weird things, and whatever. I'd bounce off the walls and throw myself down the stairs to make her feel better," he added.

Carrey also dropped out of high school as soon as he turned 16 so that he could help his family with their financial situation, reports People. He quickly went from being a "straight-A student to not wanting to know anybody's name, and not wanting to make a friend." Down on hard times, the family was forced to live in a van at one point, where everyone "worked all together as security guards and janitors."

However, he could still channel his depression into something more constructive and found a path to recognition with stand-up comedy. He had an uncanny ability to mimic celebrities, which earned him instant notoriety in comedy clubs when combined with his distinctive facial expressions. At age 21, Carrey would make his debut on the small screen on The Tonight Show in 1983, an appearance that catapulted him into becoming one of the most famous comedic actors in the world.

Fame isn't everything for Carrey though, and he said in a commencement speech in 2014, "I've often said that I wish people could realize all their dreams and wealth and fame so that they could see that it's not where they're gonna find their sense of completion," as per Closer Weekly.

With two divorces under his belt by 1997, riding the white-hot flame of fame throughout the 90s and early 2000s, and romantic relationships that haven't always worked out, his daughter Jane has been the only constant in his life that has brought him immense joy.

Now aged 33, his little girl is all grown up and looks absolutely stunning. Just as her dad, Jane has taken an interest in the arts as a singer. She has her own band, The Jane Carrey Band, and even appeared as a contestant on season 11 of American Idol. Jane also has a 10-year-old son, Jackson Riley Santana, with her ex-husband Alex Santana. At the time of his birth, Carrey took to Twitter to ecstatically announce his grandson's arrival.

"Jackson Riley Santana, My Grandson, Born today! This is what 7lbs.11oz. of Calfornia dynomite looks like!" Carrey wrote.

In a 2011 interview with Access Hollywood, Carrey spoke of his relationship with his grandson and how much he loved being a hands-on grandad, describing his birth was "like an explosion of pure bliss."

"He is the coolest dude on earth, unless he gets tired and then he's a marauding maniac," he said of little Jackson. "He's so clued in and we play soccer together and he's really coordinated, it's amazing," he added.

The actor also admitted that as a grandfather, he was entirely hands-on with his grandson when he was still a toddler, insisting Jane start reading to him from a young age.

A loving relationship with your child is one of the most rewarding things to have, and it is lovely that Jim Carrey not only has a good relationship with his daughter but also a strong bond with his grandson.
