The host of popular NBC game show ‘Jeopardy!’ has made the choice to continue working his regular job even as he is 11 months into his fight with pancreatic cancer. Alex, who turns 80 this year, could have retired a long time ago, but says he has no plans of doing that anytime soon.

He spoke with WPXI Channel 11’s Jennifer Tomazic earlier this month where she read him some of the encouraging messages on WPXI’s facebook page dedicated to him, in response to his medical condition.
One comment reads, “Godspeed Alex on your journey. Prayers to Alex. Prayers for you and your family. A true gentleman, Godspeed, sir.”
“The response from people all over America and Canada with regard to my current health situation is humbling, really. I had no idea that our show and myself had such an impact on the lives of so many people out there,”
responded Trebek.

The Canadian-born host has been very open about his condition, and expresses support and love to fellow cancer warriors. “My response has been the same for all of these people: let’s both agree that we’re going to become survivors,” he said.
Speaking with CTV News in October of last year, Alex shared that his fulfilling life makes him unafraid to die. He added that he would continue hosting ‘Jeopardy!’ once his skills are intact again.

Eventually, however, he says that the side effects of the medical treatment that causes slurring would force him out of the show. But that he’s ready for anything that happens.
Alex’s resilience is inspiration for anyone who might be discouraged. Even after 36 seasons of the show, he is often the first to arrive at work, and makes it a point to go through the game questions before meeting with the producers.
Alex Trebek's incredible work ethic along with his wit has significantly impacted ‘Jeopardy’, which has been running successfully for more than three decades. We hope he becomes a cancer survivor! Pass this to anyone who might be going through something similar, and show your love and support to them whenever you can.
