Jennifer Nettles Nails National Anthem At This Years Kentucky Derby

The weather at the Kentucky Derby this year might have been dreary and damp, but that didn't hold back Jennifer Nettles from performing a fantastic rendition of the National Anthem.

The event was Nettles first Kentucky Derby ever, and she definitely turned looks with her beautiful ensemble. She sported a dress covered in a stunning purple tulle accompanied by a tall pink headpiece with a huge rose on it; she looked absolutely exquisite.

She wrote: 

"It’s almost time!!!! Singing the National Anthem at @kentuckyderby today!!!"

 "What a treat. I don’t know, is my fascinator big enough?"

Speaking to the Herald Ledger, it was pretty obvious Nettles was beaming with excitement. When asked about how she would approach the Anthem, she said:

“I’m going to approach it the way I always have done it, which is, I like to add a little bit of style to it but I’m not super flowery about it,” she said.  “People like to sing along to it so you gotta keep it pretty structured.”

Her rendition was nothing short of perfect. She belted out the anthem in front of an estimated audience of around 160,00 spectators.
