Jennifer Lopez’s Child Appears to Debut New Name at Graduation as Family Shows Support

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s 18-year-old child has reached a major family milestone, graduating from high school with relatives and loved ones in attendance. The teenager, widely known publicly as Emme Maribel Muñiz, appeared to mark the occasion under the name Oskar Muñiz, according to a school-related Instagram post reported by Page Six.

Because Lopez has not publicly confirmed a name change, the detail should be treated with care. The reported name comes from an Instagram account that tracks Windward School seniors’ college decisions and identified Lopez’s child as Oskar Muñiz. The post said Oskar is headed to Sarah Lawrence College to study theater and studio arts. Sarah Lawrence describes itself as a liberal arts college in Bronxville, New York, known for its individualized academic approach.

Photographs from the graduation ceremony showed Lopez’s child dressed in a beige suit and speaking with Samuel Affleck, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s youngest child. Lopez attended the ceremony, as did the graduate’s twin brother, Max Muñiz, and Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez. Marc Anthony, who shares the twins with Lopez, was not photographed at the event.

The appearance of Samuel Affleck also reflected the blended-family ties around Lopez’s children. Lopez and Ben Affleck married in 2022 and finalized their divorce in 2025. Affleck and Garner, who divorced in 2018, share three children: Violet, Fin, and Samuel. Garner also appeared to support the college announcement by liking the Instagram post.

The celebration placed a private family moment into public view, but the central story remains simple: a young graduate is preparing for college while surrounded by people who care.

For Lopez, the graduation carries extra emotional weight because both of her twins are preparing to leave home for college. During a May 27, 2026 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, reported by People, Lopez became emotional while discussing the change.

“Don’t talk about it ’cos we start crying,” she said when the topic of graduation came up. She added, “I’ve been crying for two months.”

Lopez explained that Max and her other child attended different high schools and will also attend different colleges. While the transition is emotional, she made clear that she supports their independence and wants them to choose their own direction. “It’s fine,” she said.

“I want them to be happy, go where they want to go, and do what they want to do.”

The singer and actress also said she plans to help with the practical side of the transition, including moving them into their dorms. Her comments painted a familiar picture for many parents: pride, sadness, and excitement arriving all at once as children step into adulthood.

Lopez and Anthony welcomed twins Max and Emme in February 2008. The former couple married in 2004, announced their separation in 2011, and finalized their divorce in 2014. Since then, Lopez has often spoken about the importance of motherhood in her life.

The graduation story is not only about celebrity family connections. It is also about a young person entering a new stage, a mother facing an empty nest, and a family showing up for an important rite of passage. The reported college plan adds another meaningful layer, especially because theater and studio arts fit naturally with a family rooted in music, performance, and public creativity.
