The word is officially out on the next halftime show: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will both perform at Super Bowl LIV in February 2020!
Jennifer Lopez announced the news on her Instagram with a photo of Shakira alongside the caption “This is happening. 🌎 02.02.20,” and Shakira did the same for J. Lo. Both of the images incorporated the Pepsi (the show’s sponsor) logo and numbers 02.02.20 surreptitiously in their jewelry.

The Super Bowl is about much more than just the game itself, and the pressure of performing perfectly at the halftime show in front of millions of people will be high for the two seasoned superstars. This year, Maroon 5 and Travis Scott played to almost 100 million people according to Forbes.
They will be joining a long line of music royalty including past performers Beyoncé, Prince, Madonna, and more. Jennifer Lopez is excited to be part of the lineage.
"Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl," she said in an official NFL statement. "And now it's made even more special not only because it's the NFL's 100th season, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can't wait to show what us girls can do on the world's biggest stage."
Fellow Latina Shakira also echoed the sentiment, stating:
"I'm so honored to be taking on one of the world's biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world -- and to top it off, on my birthday!" said Shakira. "This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!"
The two will surely bring the show of a lifetime, and they’re no strangers to worldwide sports phenomenons, both having recorded and performed World Cup songs, Shakira in 2010 and J. Lo in 2014.
Shakira and J. Lo are already hyped about the show, posting “Going to set the world on 🔥🔥🔥” (J. Lo) and “It doesn’t get any bigger than this!” (Shakira) on their Instagrams. There’s no doubt they will knock it out of the stadium February 02.02.2020 in Miami.
