Jennifer Garner Admits She Wants a ‘Physical Fight’ & to ‘Wipe the Floor’ With Longtime Friend Judy Greer

Jennifer Garner has long been one of Hollywood’s most relatable leading ladies. Many first fell in love with her during her breakout role on "Alias," where she balanced action and vulnerability with ease. Over the years, she has moved comfortably between romantic comedies and even family films.
Nowadays, Garner is clearly having fun promoting season two of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” but it is her off-script wish involving Judy Greer that has fans buzzing. The longtime friends and former “13 Going on 30” costars are now sharing the screen again in the Apple TV thriller based on Laura Dave’s bestselling novels.
Garner returns as Hannah, while Greer joins the cast as Quinn, the eldest daughter of the Campano crime family. For readers who know the sequel, “The First Time I Saw Him,” the tension between their characters runs deep, making their reunion anything but sweet.
Garner admits working alongside Greer again was meaningful. “It was a real joy,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, it was hard to do, but a real joy. And I got to watch Judy and Angourie (together), which was incredible, and Judy and Luke (Kirby, who plays Quinn’s brother, Teddy), I mean those two together. He’s so good. They’re so good.”
She also revealed that Greer’s casting was not an accident. When producers were shaping the role, Garner stepped in. Co-showrunner Josh Singer recalled, “And Jen very much said, ‘I really think she would do something special.’”

Singer admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he initially associated Greer more with comedy, but after revisiting her dramatic performances, he said, “I was really knocked out. And I thought like, oh, wow.” From the first scene filmed, Singer attested to Greer’s brilliance, “we were all knocked out with how good she is and what she was bringing to that role. I mean, Judy’s incredible.”
Meanwhile, Garner let her imagination run a little wild when talking about Greer. Sitting beside her onscreen husband, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, she casually dropped a line that instantly stole the spotlight. She said:
“I would like to have a fight with Judy Greer, but a physical fight.”
Coster-Waldau jumped in, clearly delighted. “Yes! She mentioned that in the other room, and she was like, she’s scared of you. Garner replied, “I know, I like that,” and continued:
“We’ve been friends a long time. I would like to fight her.”
According to Garner, Greer has already set boundaries: “She’s like, I would call my stunt double right away. I wouldn’t even let you do it once.” Garner then added, quickly softening the joke, “Aww, no, she’d be okay. I wouldn’t have hurt her.”
Still, the playful rivalry did not stop there. Garner even pitched a more dramatic twist for the show’s future, “I think that Owen and Hannah should go into battle with their swords. On horseback.” And then came the line that perfectly captured her competitive affection for her friend, the one that will likely follow these two for years:
“I would like to wipe the floor with her.”
At the end of the day, the “fight” is just part of the fun. What really comes through is the history between them — years of shared sets, inside jokes, and the kind of friendship where you can threaten to “wipe the floor” with someone and both of you know it’s pure love.
