Jennifer Aniston is an American actress who rose to international fame for her role as Rachel Green in the hit series "Friends." Born to two actors, John Aniston and Nancy Dow, she came to acting early in life. While attending a Waldorf school, Aniston fell in love with acting at age 11.

Born on Feb. 11, 1969, Aniston was raised in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, and grew up with a love for acting. The aspiring star put in plenty of hard work and dedication into pursuing her passion and ultimately made it her full-time career – and a highly successful one at that.

In June 2022, Jennifer Aniston, who starred in the television series “The Morning Show,” and fellow actor Sebastian Stan, who played the role of Tommy Lee on the show “Pam & Tommy,” appeared in an “Actors on Actors” video by Variety. In the nearly 30-minute video, the pair looked back at some of the most iconic moments in their careers as well as discussed their different approaches to roles that they received.

Stan expressed his admiration for the actress as he told her that he had been a fan of hers for years.

“I’m such a huge fan of yours. I have been for years, so this is very special,” he told Aniston.

Although their conversation was perceived as good by many fans, there was one part in particular that caused some online users to call out Aniston for her tone. In the conversation, the actress said she felt “lucky” that her generation was able to get “a little taste of the industry” before it was overtaken by social media and technology.

“I always say I feel lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today, which is just different — more streaming services, more people,” she said.

She then noted that people who are famous from different social media platforms are “diluting” an actor’s job.

“You’re famous from TikTok. You’re famous from YouTube. You’re famous from Instagram. It’s sort of almost like it’s diluting our actor’s job,” she added.

Prior to that, she also noted that the internet became a great tool for “people becoming famous for basically doing nothing.”

After the interview was released, the quote made rounds online which led several people to react to it.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user revealed that they love Aniston, but her comments were in bad taste.

“Celebrities really hate the idea that the average person can now be famous and have platforms where we’re on a more equal playing field 😭 Jennifer Aniston, I love you but bad take,” one wrote.

Another user pointed out that Aniston is a nepotism baby as they wrote, “jennifer aniston (nepotism baby) wants to talk about diluting the actors job. right.”

One user is conflicted about the actress’s opinion as they agree with her and at the same time, social media has become a great tool for people to share their talents.

“she spilled, but at the same time tiktok gives actual talent a platform. so many talented artists have gained stardom from that app,” one wrote.

Another user seemed to agree as they wrote, “i agree and disagree. why is she hate keeping fame/the industry so hard?😭 also new technology gives the opportunity for people to notice. also she’s literally on streaming shows and gets millions from them.”

One online user expressed the same sentiments: “Ok but YouTube, TikTok and Instagram are also giving a platform to people who can’t afford to get their foot in the door the old fashioned way. Those platforms have helped many theater kids gain recognition as well. It’s not just boosting “untalented” people.”

“A system accustomed to giving opportunities based on who your parents are or who you know will see this new world as problem, no one likes to share pie. Those with talent will shine despite any potential distraction,” one posted.
