Jeff Goldblum is a highly accomplished and incredibly beloved actor and musician. He has his very own jazz band called Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra and has been releasing music with them since 2018. However, it’s safe to say that many people are more familiar with Goldblum due to his illustrious acting career.

Goldblum was born on Oct. 22, 1952, in West Homestead, Pennsylvania, which is located just outside of Pittsburgh. Growing up, Goldblum sadly encountered some difficult moments as his older brother died in 1971. He had been the one who first helped Goldblum become interested in jazz. The actor’s parents were also interested in show business, so it’s not surprising that Goldblum made his way into the entertainment industry himself.

Goldblum began professionally pursuing acting at the age of 10 and moved to New York City when he was 17 to make his dreams become a reality. He has starred in several high-grossing films including several “Jurassic Park” films and both “Independence Day” and “Independence Day: Resurgence.” The actor is not just popular in films, though, as he has also appeared in numerous TV shows over the course of his career. Some of these shows include “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Will & Grace.”

In his personal life, Goldblum also has much to celebrate. Although his first marriage to Patricia Gaul and his second marriage to Geena Davis didn’t work out, the star is now happily married. Goldblum and Canadian Olympic gymnast Emilie Livingston, who is 30 years his junior, have been married since November 2014. The following year when he was 62, Goldblum welcomed his very first child in the world — something that he hadn't thought about experiencing until he met his third wife.

Goldblum and Livingston first became engaged in mid-2014 and married in November of that year. In January 2015, Goldblum announced that the couple was expecting their first child. Finally, on July 4, 2015, Goldblum’s son Charlie Ocean was born, making Goldblum a first-time father at the age of 62.

In 2016, the actor spoke about what it was like becoming an older father. “I never seriously considered it until Emilie," he told Parade before he added: "I’m at a different place now. I was enthusiastic to marry her and try to have a baby." He revealed that his wife told him she was pregnant the day before their wedding.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Goldblum commented about how the birth of his son in 2015 had been his favorite July 4th celebration. “That was definitely my most memorable Independence Day,” Goldblum said. “Emile’s due date was (the) fourth of July, but they said it could be two weeks either side.”

Goldblum and Livingston have since welcomed a second son River Joe who was born on April 7, 2017. “I adore being a dad,” he added. “It’s fantastic.”

Speaking with Us Weekly in 2018, the actor said more about how grateful he is for his fatherhood journey:

“I feel right on schedule and I love our two boys. Everything seemed to happen perfectly. I appreciate it wildly.”

Despite his age, he told iNews in 2018 the timing was perfect. “I’m glad I waited. It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to. What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them,” he told the outlet.

As Goldblum turned 70 in October 2022, he spoke to "Today"'s Hoda Kotb about how much he was enjoying being a father of two.

“It’s amazing, it’s revivifying, and makes my relationship with Emilie, frankly, enhanced,” he told Kotb.

He went on to say starting a family had also revealed a different side to his wife that pleasantly surprised him.

“Seeing (my wife) in this new role is unbelievable. She’s heroic beyond imagination,” the “Jurassic World Dominion” actor gushed.

Describing the dynamics of his family of four as “spectacular,” the doting dad admitted there are some rough parenting days to get through when it comes to toddlers.

“And it’s challenging and it’s sometimes maddening and very volatile. As you know, at 3 and 5, 5 and 7 they can be like feral creatures unleashed,”  he said, but was quick to note that, despite the challenges, parenthood truly suited him:

“Oh yeah, and sweet and amazing. It’s great,” he added.

On his birthday, he also took the time to show his appreciation for his role as dad to two young kids, as he posted a photo on Instagram of them all together in a cozy bed. He captioned the precious picture: “Thank you so much for all o’ the lovely birthday wishes! Feelin’ wildly lucky to start off another year with these amazing and special people.”

It’s pretty clear Goldblum has no regrets about becoming a father later in life and we hope the years of parenthood to come for the actor will continue being as amazing and fulfilling as he finds it now.
