Jason Priestley Says Shannen Doherty Is A 'Fighter' As He Gives Update On Her Cancer Battle

This week, Jason Priestly updated fans on his good friend Shannen Doherty as she battles breast cancer a second time.
Priestly described his former 90210 co-star as a “fighter” in a recent interview, saying she was in “good spirits” the last time they had spoken.

In an interview with the Australian outlet Studio 10, Priestly spoke fondly of Doherty.
"Shannen's a real tough girl, and Shannen's a fighter and she's always been a fighter," the 51-year-old said. "I know that she will continue to fight as hard as she can."
The actor revealed that he and Doherty have stayed in touch since the end of their famous series, with the two catching up with each other “every couple of months."Last time I heard from her, she was in pretty good spirits."

The two starred alongside one another in the 90s show, Beverly Hills 90210, and played twins, Brandon and Brenda Walsh. They reunited last year for the Fox reboot of the show, BH90210, which was sadly canceled after just one season on Fox.
Doherty revealed on an appearance on Goodmorning America back in February that after two years in remission, she had once again been diagnosed with Stage V breast cancer.
Following her emotional revelation, messages of support and love poured in from fans and former co-stars galore. In the wake of the news, in an interview with People, Priestly described his friendship with Doherty as “very meaningful.”
"Shannen and I will always have a bond that is very meaningful. I’m very heartbroken about the news and I wish her and her family the best in this very difficult time.”
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Doherty tries to remain optimistic.
“But... I believe that I will find my footing. I’ll dig deep for the inner strength I need to face it all. I pray I do it all with dignity and grace. I have so much to say. So much to share. I will. For now... please know how much you all help lift me,” she continued her post.
