'Januhairy' Is Encouraging Women to Grow Their Body Hair Out For The Entire Month of January

January is a time when many people make resolutions to themselves. They will work out more, stop drinking alcohol, or quit a job they hate.

One new movement, though, has women around the world resolving to keep their body hair intact for the entire first month of the year.

British student Laura started the movement after she stopped shaving her body hair for a drama project at school. In a recent Instagram post, Laura shared that during the project, she recognized the taboos around women's body hair and came to feel empowered and confident after she got used to not removing her hair.

Laura wanted to share this feeling with others and has recruited her mother as well as many other women across the globe to join the movement. Participants are encouraged to share their progress photos with the hashtag #januhairy.

As one might expect, the Januhairy movement has received mixed commentary online. Everything from enthusiasm to disgust to confusion has popped up in Laura's post comments, but it hasn't stopped her from pursuing this project.

Because her movement has gotten so much attention, Laura hopes to use the press to raise awareness and funds for Body Gossip. This charity promotes body acceptance through a unique combination of arts and education. In the end, Laura wants every girl and woman to love and accept her body whether she decides to grow her body hair or not.

Would you take part in the Januhairy movement? How do you feel about women growing out their body hair? We would love to hear your opinion!
