Being a janitor is far from glamorous. You have to clean up everyone's messes. You see some of the yuckier parts of life. It's rough work. One school proved that their janitor, at least, does not go unnoticed for the effort he puts in.

Eugene Hilton is a janitor at Moody Elementary School in Moody, Alabama. He got the surprise of his life - all thanks to Andrea Orr, a third-grade teacher at the school. She explained that there was a serious mess in the assembly hall. Eugene sighed and prepared for what he thought was just another job.

However, when he arrived in the assembly hall, he was treated like a celebrity! All the third-graders screamed his name. They gave him cards and a banner that thanked him for "always lending a helping hand." The event was part of "National Custodian Day" on October 2nd.

Andrea Orr arrived close behind Eugene. She explained how important his job is. It was the least they could do to honor him! Eugene is already beloved at the elementary school. Students call him "Mr. Eugene" and are ready with fist-bumps whenever he passes by.
