Jane Fonda has been a screen icon for decades, and she is now dedicating much of her time to activism. The 82-year-old actress has decided to bring back her famous Jane Fonda Workout, however this time she is targeting new generations too, by posting TikTok videos on Instagram. The videos aim to call attention to the climate change crisis damaging our planet.

Jane Fonda's aerobics workouts were popular in the 1980s. Although the video series really left a mark as people still praise it as being a good way to stay in shape, the real reason why Jane shared this video is to raise awareness for her virtual Fire Drill Fridays.

Jane says in her post:

“What I would really like for you to do is work out with me for the planet. There’s a climate crisis that’s a real emergency, and so, whether you’re on your couch or your yoga mat, will you join me for the virtual Fire Drill Fridays?”

Fire Drill Fridays began in 2019 in Washington, DC. They were created to educate people on the climate change crisis that is impacting the world in a bad way.

According to Promipool, Jane's plan was to put the event on in the winter and spring. However, due to the coronavirus, mass gatherings are now banned across the US, so the event, like many others, will now be taking place virtually. No doubt they will be a huge success online!

Jane is showing that she can reach all generations by using TikTok. The platform has a massive audience, and this is something Jane can take advantage of. Plus despite telling people to "Google her," the post shows she can be a contemporary activist by going online to protest. Jane declared, “We may be staying home, and yes, we must stay home, but we will never stop speaking out about the climate crisis and demanding our leadership take action.”

As Jane has a large network of celebrity friends, she would often be joined by some of them for the protests. It was pretty common for mass arrests to also take place at these events, even leading to Jane herself being arrested. By protesting at home, it should mean the law won't have to get involved!

Jane Fonda is a source of inspiration for us all. Share this with anyone who might like to raise awareness for an important cause, from the comfort of their home.
