Late night show host James Corden has always been known to push his guests to get out of their comfort zone.

In fact, that is one of the things that makes his Late Late Show such a popular television hit.

His great ideas have had some of the greatest stars step out of their shell. His recent show definitely did just that!

James Corden hosted an incredible show where Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt were recruited to perform a whopping 22 musical acts in just 12 minutes. The duo performed it in a single-take style called “Roll Call.” It stunned audiences with musical highlights from some of the most famous classical musicals. The musical tributes spanned over 50 years of some of the best, iconic movie musicals.

The ballads included songs from Chicago and Guys and Dolls. The songs also included, of course, songs from the duo’s latest film Mary Poppins Returns. The entire event was astounding due to the incredible amount of detail that was put into the development of the short musical duo.

Corden started off the performance by acknowledging his appreciation for the music he loved since his early days watching musicals. He wanted to do a celebration of some of the greatest movies that have ever existed. He knows that anyone who has watched the show can feel how much he resonates towards musicals and the theatrical environment.

He recruited Emily Blunt to assist him with this awesome performance. You could tell that the duo was nervous as their performance started. However, as they got into the song, the duo really lit up.

The duo did nearly every imaginable classic song, while also adding in several of the new ones from the Mary Poppins movie. The act even included a Kermit playing a banjo immediately prior to Emily Blunt nailing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The experience was unlike anything you’ve ever seen!
