The world of entertainment is a bizarre yet interesting world to navigate. Actors, singers, and models, the list goes on and on. When you add love into the mix, things can get extra hot and heavy in Hollywood. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal knows love drama all too well.

The Hollywood heartthrob was born in 1980 to his father and director Stephen Gyllenhaal as well as his mother, screenwriter Naomi Foner. The couple would eventually get their son into the entertainment industry before divorcing in 2008. His older sister Maggie Gyllenhaal is also known for her famous acting career. Born into the industry, Gyllenhaal made his acting debut in “City Slickers” in 1991.

Making a name for himself, the actor went on to star in movies like “Donnie Darko,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” and “Brokeback Mountain” during the early 2000s and has since acted in a handful of movies like “Nightcrawler” or “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” on top of a stint in broadway that ended up earning him a Tony Award nomination.

With plenty of experience in acting and interacting on the scene, Gyllenhaal has met and dated some of the biggest female celebrities in the world. Ranging from pop stars such as Taylor Swift to actress Reese Witherspoon to Kirsten Dunst— the young man was once a popular, eligible bachelor. However, recently, Gyllenhaal has been off the dating market and in a serious relationship with French model Jeanne Cadieu. In an interview with Vogue in 2020, Gyllenhaal revealed he is leaning into love more often than not these days.

Since Gyllenhaal was born into the acting world with working parents in the TV and film industry—the actor admitted his Hollywood upbringing was rare, “in a world with my mother hosting dinners at home with feminist groups and very powerful women in politics and Hollywood,” he told Vogue U.K.

Watching feature films as a child by directors such as Steven Spielberg, Gyllenhaal himself would carve his own success path. The actor recently expressed to Vogue U.K. that he is focusing on things other than his acting and film career.

“I’m interested in my life, even more so than my work. I’ve reached a point in my career where I feel hungry in a different way. I’ve seen how much of my life I’ve neglected as a result of being committed to that work and that idea,” Gyllenhaal told the magazine.

This mindset may also be due to Gyllenhaal’s girlfriend, Cadieu. The couple started dating back in 2018, according to Us Weekly. The actor and his gorgeous model girlfriend made their first red carpet appearance in 2021 at a New York Film Festival premiere of “The Lost Daughter.” Although the pair has a large age difference, the chemistry has been limitless.

The actor disclosed his feelings about family to Vogue U.K.:

“...seeing life as something that is, you know, fleeting, and the world being as it is now. I’ve turned to my family, I’ve turned to my friends and I’ve turned to love. I’m a little less interested in the work, I would say, and more interested in that.”

From talking about growing up to having children of his own one day, Gyllenhaal has said he sees kids in his future at some point. “I definitely do. I think that’s probably the reason I see the end of the show the way that I see it. I know that’s why I see the end of the show the way that I see it,” the actor told Vogue U.K.

“My mother and my sister are some of the most extraordinary people I know. Our vulnerability with each other, our ability to communicate about how tough times can be is what I’m most proud of in my family,” he said. “For everything I hope to pass on, that’s the most important. My mom always would say she saw me as a certain type of kid and she wanted to protect that. And admittedly, as much as they messed certain things up, they spent a great deal of time protecting that thing, that sensitivity, I think. I’m glad for that,” he added.

“I’m not someone who has ever existed in a space where I’ve really known what’s coming next,” Gyllenhaal said. “But you do have to be open to it. And there has been no other time in my life that I can safely say…,” he finished.

Like Gyllenhaal’s movies— it’s safe to say the actor has found another area of life that will be award-winning with his future family. The classic tale of a bad boy turned good in Hollywood, a tale we know all too well.
