Jaclyn Smith Proves It’s Never Too Late For True Love By Marrying In Her 50s

Jaclyn Smith, the iconic actress best known for her role as Kelly Garrett on the beloved television series “Charlie’s Angels,” has captivated audiences for decades with her undeniable talent and timeless beauty. But beyond her illustrious career, her enduring love story with her husband, Brad Allen, has truly captured the hearts of many. 

Before her love story with Allen began, Smith encountered many hardships in her search for true love, including three unsuccessful marriages. Her first marriage came before her big break in “Charlie’s Angels” to American actor and entrepreneur Roger Davis. She then went on to marry Dennis Cole and later, Anthony B. Richmond, with whom she had two children. Smith had joked that if the third time wasn’t a charm, she’d move into a nunnery. 

However, Cupid had other plans for her, as she would go on to meet Chicago heart surgeon Dr. Brad Allen, and their marriage would prove that the fourth time could be a charm. Their meeting was the stuff that romance movies are made of. He was treating her father’s heart condition, and her mother encouraged him to meet Smith. He then offered to escort her to her car after a hospital visit to make sure that she wasn’t scared. Smith later told Closer magazine that she fell in love with his “purity of heart.” They dated for seven years before they tied the knot in Los Angeles on Oct. 11, 1997. Her son, Gaston Richmond, gave her away, while her daughter, Spencer Richmond, was her maid of honor.

Smith showers her husband with love on social media, especially on their wedding anniversaries. For their 26th wedding anniversary in 2023, she posted a stunning picture of the two of them all dressed up and captioned it:

“Twenty six years ago we said I do and we just keep on dancing! Happy Anniversary to my guy 🤍”

The couple celebrated their 27th anniversary in 2024, which the actress commemorated by showing appreciation for her beloved husband by posting a video montage of them spending time together. She followed it up with the sweet caption:

“My husband Brad is the perfect example of a great partner every day!...Even after all these years, you continue to make me feel cherished 🤍”

Allen has stood by Smith through thick and thin and has taken on the role of being a stepfather to her children with love. Their love story has withstood life’s hardships, including Smith’s cancer diagnosis in 2002. Recalling the utter shock and dismay from the diagnosis, Smith said:

“The word ‘cancer’ is what stood out. That’s a word I didn’t even like to say. It was very surreal. I couldn’t get a grip on it. I think my first words were, “Will I be here for my children?’”

The actress immediately opted for a mastectomy but ended up getting a lumpectomy instead since it had spread. She leaned on her family, friends and co-stars for support and eventually made a complete recovery. Now a grandmother, Smith cherishes her family and her health. Most importantly, the love she and Allen share. 

“We have similar values and upbringing. Spiritually, we think the same, and he has been an incredible stepfather and loves my kids like his own,” she said.
