Let's talk about the solution. Keep in mind, that what you are looking for are only complete squares and that it does not count if it doesn't look like one. Really take your time with this brainteaser - there might be more squares in this picture than you think. Maybe you have missed one? 

SOLUTION

Let's start with the basics and define what a square is exactly: In math, a square is defined as a shape with four sides of the same length. The angles between those sides must be 90 degrees.

So how many squares are in the picture? The correct answer is 16.
If you haven't found them all, don't get upset because it takes a lot of practice to see them. Let's have a look:

  • The outside lines form 1 big square. 
  • Then, there are 4 slightly smaller squares 
  • There is another 1 square with the same size in the middle
  • In the left corner, you will find 1 big square
  • And lastly, if you look closely, you find 9 tiny squares 

So that's how you get 16 squares in total. Did you find all of them?
