Is Your Bra Misbehaving? Try These Nine Easy Fixes

Jun 11, 2018 by apost team

The versatile grey pencil skirt is a working gal’s bestie. A pair of comfy heels are the go-to shoe for almost any outfit. And that little black dress can be an all around life saver for everything from spur of the moment dates to funerals. But, there’s one item that every women must have in there wardrobe for daily use, making it the most important weapon in the wardrobe arsenal. Any guesses? Yep, it’s the bra. The right bra can make you feel sexy, confident, and happy and your outfit feel completely on point. But, let’s face it - the bra doesn’t always want to cooperate. Sometimes it misbehaves.

While it may be the most important weapon in your wardrobe, the bra doesn’t always want to cooperate with every outfit it attacks. So, we’ve gathered some tips on how to tame your bra to make full use of it for any outfit.

1. Storage: Dont Trample Or Crumple Your Bra

A lot of women shove their bras into a dresser or pile them up in some way or another. This can deform the bras, leaving padding a mess, straps tangled, and underwire misshapen. Now, that’s not going to fit right. There’s a reason that top-shelf lingerie stores all hang their bras - it’s the best way to preserve their shape. Here’s your fix: If hanging them solo is too much hassle, then drape them inline over a single triangle hanger.

2. Your Bra Is Giving You The Slip

It can be so annoying when a strapless bra doesn’t give your breasts the support they need to stay at attention. The bra slips and slides until it becomes a belt, not a bra. Here’s your fix: Attach a strap to the back of the bra. You’ll run the strap under your breasts and back to the backside of the bra for attachment. No more belt bras for you.

3. Self-Adhesives Aren’t Doing Enough Push-Ups

Self-adhesive cups work great for those outfits that are backless and strapless, but they tend not to push up the boobs for any lift, right? Here’s your fix: Instead of sticking them on in the usual horizontal position, stick them on vertically so that they’re from the bottom and side of each breast.

4. I Hate Self-Adhesives And I’m Not Confident In My Strapless Bra But Still Want Support For My Strapless Dress

So selfies aren’t your thing and you’re not confident in a strapless staying still? No problem. Cut off everything but the front of your strapless bra. You can either use clothing tape to attach it inside your dress’s bodice -or- you can sew it if the dress has a shelf or double fabric layer. If you use tape, be sure to use clothing tape, not skin tape.

5. Bra Straps Are Rubbing You The Wrong Way

Older bras stretch at the band from wear and tear, and even though the bra is still in good shape, it can start rubbing you from all the load going to the straps. Here’s your fix: Attach silicone pads to the straps.

6. Bra Is Playing Peek-A-Boo

Big bra pads and/or big boobs and button up shirts can leave your bra playing peek-a-boo with everyone through the button gaps. Here’s your fix: fasten the edges of the button gaps over your breasts with double sided sticky tape.

7. My Bra Is Cutting My Circulation Off

Your fix is simply properly adjusting your bra. Adjust your straps to where you can fit two fingers comfortably under each strap. Same with the circumference; pick the eye and hook setting that allows two fingers underneath the sides and back of your bra. If this isn’t possible, then you may need to be refitted for your bra size.

8. My Bra Is Tired Of Lifting My Load

Older bras do get stretched and begin holding the load poorly. Here’s your fix to extend its life a little: Cross the straps at the back or attach the two straps in the center together to make that “X” across your back.

9. Love Lace Isn’t Giving You Volume And Form?

Most women adore lace’s comfort, softness, and aesthetics. The problem is that lace is so sheer that too much anatomy shows, there’s no lift, and there’s no form or shape. Here’s your fix: Take the cup inserts out of a sports bra, swimsuit top, or just buy some. Now, you can insert them into your lace bra and have the best of both worlds.
