Smart doorbells are all the rage at the moment. They are extremely handy when you want to keep an eye on the people who show up on your property.

Not only will you get a notification within seconds of someone coming onto your porch or ringing the bell, they will also record the movement that happens afterward.

It’s a great way to keep track of people and to make sure your packages are arriving safely.

However, Amanda Atkins of Lincoln Square had no idea she was about to see something truly funny recorded on the camera. It happened when a UPS driver dropped off a delivery that day.

Amanda received a notification that her doorbell had been pressed. She pulled up the video on her phone to see a UPS driver with her package. To her total shock, she saw that he also had a squirrel riding on his back.

The squirrel had been sitting on Amanda’s fence either looking for food or just playing around. It then jumped onto the UPS driver’s shoulder without any fear. It wasn’t scared or shy at all! Oscar Luciano, the driver, wasn’t scared either. He laughed as the little squirrel ran up to his head.

Oscar was back at Amanda’s house the next day. When he got there, she told him that her camera recorded the whole thing. She sent him the link so that he could show others what had happened. He was glad that she had video evidence of the crazy encounter!

He talked about the incident in an interview, stating that he was simply bobbing his head to music when he felt a slight tug that startled him. He said that it went through his mind that his wife wouldn’t believe that a squirrel would be so brave to jump on him like that.

Squirrels are generally passive animals that do not show much aggression, so the fact that this squirrel decided to hop up on Luciano’s shoulder really isn’t as unusual as one would think. He obviously did not feel threatened or trapped by the human at all.

Luciano was also quite calm and collected. He didn’t try to brush the animal off or hurt it. Which was a good plan, as squirrels can bite if they feel threatened in any way.
