Jun 14, 2020 by apost team

The baby food and baby product company founded in 1927, Gerber, has officially announced the 2020 spokesbaby for their brand. Magnolia Earl, from Ross California, was chosen from over 327,000 entries and is the 10th winner of the company contest. What makes the whole win even more special is that Magnolia was adopted by the Earl family.

According to an interview with Today, Magnolia's dad, Russell Earl said Magnolia "brings so much joy and happiness to everybody." The Earl family adopted Magnolia back in 2019 and she celebrated her first birthday on May 9th of this year.

Magnolia has two older sisters: 12-year-old Whitney and 8-year-old Charlotte. Both were also adopted by Courtney and Russell Earl. Courtney said:

"We celebrate adoption in our family every single day. The real hero in this story are Magnolia's birth parents. They chose her life, and they sent her on this incredible journey."

Along with being featured on Gerber's social media pages and all of their marketing campaigns throughout the year, the Gerber baby winner's family receives $25,000 in cash as well as $1,000 in Gerber children's wear, $1,000 from Walmart, and phones with a free year of unlimited service through Verizon.

As the 10th year in a row that Gerber has done a contest for a baby to be their social media representative, Magnolia is following the footsteps of 1-year-old Dalton from Georgia. Dalton was the first child with Down Syndrome to be named a Gerber baby.

The photo contest initially started after parents sent photos of their children to the company over the years because they saw them suited to Gerber's iconic baby logos.

According to Geber's website, the original Gerber logo is a sketch done by Dorothy Hope Smith. A contest for the logo was held in 1928 and it became the brand's official trademark in 1931. Appearing on every package since then, those who started sending photos to Gerber must have been inspired by the charcoal sketch, hence the birth of the photo search contest.

Courtney told Today that she even spoke with Magnolia's birth parents when she became a finalist in the Gerber contest:

"If you could hear the joy in their voice of how proud they are of this little girl. Together with them and our community and our family, we all this love this baby girl so much."

Courtney reportedly held back tears as she spoke about the exchange. Father of the family, Russell Earl said:

"Mommy always says a family is built on love. We may all look different, but we're one family."
