Kids can learn a lot from adults. And some adults could learn a great deal from little kids. Sadly, too many adults wallow in materialism. They become selfish and self-centered. One little boy, however, showed grownups what it means to care about others.

Jermaine Bell of South Carolina is a six-year-old boy who always wanted to go to Disney World. The young man saved up his birthday money to pay for his trip. And then tragedy struck, but not to Jermaine nor his family. Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahamas leaving tremendous devastation in its wake. Jermaine realized that a lot of people would be hurt due to the hurricane. So, he wanted to help.

Rather than put his money to cover vacation expenses, Jermaine Bell chose to direct the funds towards the needy people of the Bahamas and elsewhere. He knew that a brutal natural disaster along the lines of a category five hurricane would leave people homeless and starving. Jermaine realized his money could be put to better use helping those people rather than paying for a trip.

How many adults would sacrifice as much as Jermaine did? Many could easily afford to send money to the hurricane victims don’t make an effort to do so. Jermaine deserves both thanks and praise for his selflessness. And it appears he’s getting quite a bit of both. His story made the local news, and now the tale receives international coverage. Hopefully, his story will prove inspiring.

Jermaine may raise more money for hurricane relief than he ever expected. Once people hear about his story, they may become motivated to send money for the cause. Jermaine’s effort could reap dividends for people currently suffering.

Jermaine might not go unrewarded for all his good deeds. Disney cast members would like to give him free passes to the park. Maybe a benefactor will come along and pick up the tab for airfare and hotel accommodations.
