Inseparable Saint Bernard Brothers Abandoned At Shelter – Staff Wants To Find Forever Home For All Of Them

It's always disturbing to hear stories about animals who are mistreated by their owners. Sensible people have trouble understanding what would drive someone to dump an animal on the street or at a local shelter without any sense of right and wrong

There are some extreme scenarios when pets would be better off at a rescue shelter than with a family. Some people fall into financial trouble and simply cannot feed their dog without worry about their children first. Although these situations are understandable, pets are abandoned by owners in much more ideal financial positions.

A majority of the time the responsibility, blame, and guilt rests on the shoulders of the owner. This is the person with a lack of compassion and foresight to care for their loyal pet. In October of 2018, three Saint Bernards were left at the Edmonton Humane Society. Gasket, Gunther, and Goliath were all dropped off in front of the rescue shelter at the same time. However, volunteers still don't know how these three dogs arrived at their front door. It didn't take long for the rescue shelter to realize that these three dogs were special.

Other than being a few pounds underweight, the three Saint Bernard pups were in perfect health. In fact, these three dogs weren't exhibiting any signs of distress that are common in shelter animals. These pups were behaving perfectly until the shelter tried to separate the loyal trio. Each Saint Barnard would pant and pace nervously when the other two weren't around. These dogs were exhibiting classic symptoms of separation anxiety.

Instead of separating Gasket, Gunther, Goliath to find homes for each, the Humane Society decided to find a home for all three giants. Jamey Blair works as the shelter's Manager of Animal Health and Protection. He released an official press report about the three Saint Bernards and their unique situation. Although Blair knew that finding a home for all three dogs would be a greater challenge, he was confident that a family would rise to the occasion. Within a few weeks, the Humane Society was bombarded with letters from throughout the United States and Canada. Some potential owners even applied from Australia. After sifting through the numerous applications, the Humane Society chose a family from Edmonton as the forever home for the three Saint Bernards.
