Injured Dog Shows Up On Couple's Porch In Midst 40-Acre Land In Need Of Help

When April and Joe Sullivan made their home in the midst of a 40-acre plot of land, they didn’t look to have many unexpected visitors. After all, who is going to travel that far if they aren’t invited? Imagine their total surprise when they went out on their porch and found an injured, needy pit bull terrier.

While the couple was completely confused about the way that the dog located them, April realized right away that she needed their help. The poor dog was not only wounded, but she also had a sad look on her face. April and Joe’s granddaughter decided to approach the dog and make acquaintances. While the couple had warned her to be wary of stray animals, this pit bull was her instant friend. Even in her weakened condition, she began to lick the little girl and try to show that she was safe. Her actions stunned April who was in awe of just how sweet the dog was.

Deciding that she needed vet care, Joe had to pick her up to carry her to the vehicle. The poor dog was in such bad shape that she couldn’t make the short journey on her own. While Joe held her in his arms, the dog snuggled up against his neck and gave him a nuzzle. The couple would soon discover that the stray dog had an injured hip, most likely from being hit by a vehicle. April and Joe were already the parents to dogs and knew that adopting a new four-legged friend in the family probably wasn’t going to go over well. Still, Joe knew in his heart that he wanted to keep the dog as his own, even as they were talking about finding her a new home.

After finding out that the dog, that they named Betsy, would need extensive care to get her through her injuries, April hopped on board and agreed that they needed to be the ones that cared for her. With some time and a lot of love, Betsy recovered from her injuries. Surprisingly enough, the other dogs at the Sullivan home even accepted her and started treating her as part of the family. Betsy now shares a bed with the Labrador Chunk.

We aren’t sure how Betsy found the Sullivans, but we’re certainly glad that she did! It seems like this was a match that was meant to be. Have you ever had a stray animal show up at your home?
